I've heard production for 2003 models begins on September 2, 2002.
You can find the model year of any vehicle produced after 1981. This is when the 17 digit VIN was implemented
The 10th digit represents the model year.
Examples:
1999 = X
2000 = Y
2001 = 1
2002 = 2
2003 = 3
2004 = 4
2005 - 2009 = 5 - 9
2010 will start at the letter "A"
