If you look inside the drivers door sill (right under where the door latch is)- the information is all posted in there- should be able to get vin number- and build date.-S

The door jamb sticker on my 05 only has the month and the year - 10/04. It doesn't have the actual day of production or say anywhere that it's a 2005 model year car. (The model year may be on one of the other stickers - maybe the emissions sticker on the shock tower in the engine compartment?)

But it sounds like you've just got a lazy-a**ed dealer. Either that, or they're trying to hide something. My understanding is that MINI (BMW) has a database that tracks every car, based on its VIN number. They should be able to look it up, tell you when it was built (to the day), when and where it was delivered, all service it has received (from dealers, anyway), etc. All sorts of information. I think I read somewhere that you can even ask them for a printout of all this. (Try the service department rather than the sales department.)

If you can't get that info from the dealer, you might try calling 1-866-ASK-MINI. (While you're talking to them, you might also mention that the dealer wouldn't give you that information.)

If you have the VIN, counting from left to right, the 10th symbol will be a number. That number is the model year.
(The VIN tells a lot of info)

I had forgotten this - thanks for the reminder. Here's a cool article by Steve Baker:

My VIN is WMWRE310X0TD08638

Does it mean my car is made in 2000

Yes, it's a 2000 UK spec'd MINI Cooper S.
If it's in good shape 30 years from now, it may be a very sought after MINI - being a very early build AND UK spec'd.
Keep it stock.
