even if it does get to 20+ buyers, it still comes out to the same price as the Platypus Hole-less License Plate Holder. is there much of a difference between the two? if not i'll just save the time and get the platypus now rather than waiting 3 weeks just to order it.

 

The main differences between the Platypus and this design are the following (you decide if the features are worth the extra $20 at retail):
- swivel design base plate vs fixed angle (allows you to match the angle of your bumper, etc)
- dozens of mounting locations in vertical and horizontal axis vs a few (if you need to position the plate in a certain position)
- material of the post (aluminum vs steel)- not important unless you plan on standing on the thing!

There are at lease 5-6 similar products on the market and most are not as functional or well designed as either the Platypus or the Grimspeed designs but we're offering these two as we feel they are both great products. I have no personal preference but living in a NO FRONT PLATE state (Tennessee) makes that a easy decision. Enjoy!

I have one of these and really happy with it. Just wish I could have got it thru a group buy!

 

I'd like to have a European plate made because it offers less airflow interference on the front. However, I should have the legal size available in case the TX authorities stop me. How about 1 mount with a regular US plate and a second European plate mount?

I would imagine you could adapt a standard Euro Plate backing plate TO the Grimmspeed base...but I do not think they have a design specifically for a Euro Plate...I added "1" to the group buy list but let me know if you would like to opt out..

I too am getting into a crunch as my rear temp plate expires on the 23rd. Gotta hang something up front before then or the Colorado mounties will not be happy.
