How well does the 18mm swaybar work for R53's that have the stock springs...not the H&R springs?

Likewise, how does it compare to a 19mm rate wise?

Many years ago when I was researching rear sway bars I could not obtain any rates for the H&R bars. I did not know H&R even made an 18mm bar for the R53, I thought they only had a 19mm bar. H&R website still only shows 19mm bar.
The basic rate difference between a 18mm bar and 19mm bar is that the 19mm is about 25% stiffer.

These 18mm bars were made by H&R custom for Promini, we offer 18mm, as well as 19mm rear sway bars. Either bar comes with bushings. The ones we have on special are the 18mm bars. These bars are all new in the bag with bushings.

I Guess my next question is, upgrading to a 18 worth it or would it be best to go with a 19mm

If you do not have or do not plan to add front camber plates to increase front negative camber, than I do not think the 18mm would be worth the upgrade. With -2.0 front camber I run a 19mm bar at full stiff and it is a nice combination. With stock camber at around -0.5 degrees I would suggest a 22mm rear bar.

That being said the price is good for the 18mm bar and it would make a difference over the 16mm (non sport suspension bar). 18mm is about 60% stiffer than 16mm bar. If you have the sport suspension with the OEM 17mm bar you probably would not notice much improvement because 18mm is only 25% stiffer than 17mm.

sway bars don't require special springs, stock size is 17mm.

I was just wondering because in the original post it said that the H&R swaybar was designed to work with the H&K springs......

If the stock diameter is 17mm....is it worth it to go up to a 18mm instead of a 19mm?

I would also agree that it is not worth going from 17 to 18 mm even at the very reasonable price.
