wow, you people are rough. he didn't ask how you all felt about him putting 20's on his car and hopefuly he doesn't care how you feel about it.

as i said before, i'm sure there is a (probably small) selection. check tire rack and maybe edge racing.

Yes, there are many companies that make 20" or larger rims and some do fit the MINI but just barely.

20" rims are going to be a bit heavy and tires will need to be very low profile which means ride quality will not be as comfortable. If you have poor roads then just take it easy.

Heavy rims and tires are going to be good for looks and car shows, OK for street driving but not a good match for performance driving. The MCS has power but the MC does not- both will fit larger wheels- you'll feel the weight of the wheels more in an MC.

Many people use larger rims for car shows or rallys and that's fine.

These threads always amaze me. Someone asks a simple question and you all start putting the boot in...

dunno about 20's, but these are 19's (215/35/ZR19) - to give you an idea of how big 20's may look. This is a show car that has won several awards down here in Australia. From what I understand, this guy made some extensive mods to his arches (not including the bodykit itself).

I suppose the only thing Minihune didn't mention was that if you got this route, you'll have to look into how the significantly different rim/tyre size affects your speedo...Also..don't know about the US, but down here you can only legally change your wheel size by (I think) 1 inch or less from what is offered from the factory - so in this case - 19 inch.

people have their reasons for running 20's...
mostly for show. BrodyD's car:

he did express that he's switching to 19's for driveability... he said the 20's feel like theyre gonna go through the bonnet on bumps.

 

I wonder if the MINI fitted with such would be considered a 'donk', even though it cant be in the strictest sense.

 

Just take it to Whips in Long Island. They will fix you up with all the bling you want and the car might get on TV!

 

The reason we're weighing in is not just to give an opinion, or rain on his parade, but to prevent an expensive mistake. If you put 20s and the kind of profile tires you're going to need on a mini, the handling/ride is going to suffer, and it's going to look like the wheels and tires are wearing the car, and not the other way around. If he wants to proceed in spite of opinion, it's his money and his mini . . .

 

Hey, just get some 24" wheels, skip the tires, and paint some rubber cement on the edges of the rims!

 

And I've got the 14" BBK to fill them too.

 

There was a car on the local show scene that put 20's on for the events. Then he modded the fender liners so he could run it on the street. The car finally commited suicide when one of the ribbon thin sidewalls was pinched in a pot hole , blew out and totaled the car.
