I need to find some *cheap* 60mm center caps that I can modify to look like the stock "MINI" center caps.

Anyone got any ideas??? Thanks.

BMP to the *near* rescue. They have al sorts of BMW center caps decals! So when are the "MINI" ones coming out? Please make some with the actual center cap!!!

BMP's bimmer center caps

Why not offer a plain center cap, and adhesive backed clear convex piece to go over a "MINI" logo or custom printed logos? That would be cool!

Thanks for the link.
Yesterday I saw a mini Cooper S with a BMW round emblem sticker on the center of the steering wheel- applied right over the MINI emblem. It looked good but I would have wanted something like the big "S" from MCS. Or maybe the new MCO logo.

Rspeed had some vinyl MINI stickers made up to look OEM to cover their center caps. Maybe they'll sell them to you.

PROBLEM SOLVED:

If you have a wheel that has a 60mm opening (such as the Team Dynamics Pro Race 1's) and you want to use the stock MINI center cap you need to modify a simple $1.99 part from Lowes. This part is amazingly perfect since the outer diameter is 60mm, yet the stock cap snaps right into the 43mm opening and has a lip so that the stock cap sits flush with the new outter ring! It's totally unreal how well it fits!

Man, that's slick 6f7. I am looking at the same wheels, but was holding off because of the lack of the center cap. You solved that. When will you have a pic of the caps installed on your car?

BTW, the wheels look great on your black Cooper.

See ya,
JS

There are actually two versions of this wheel. They were originally developed for racing and did not have a center cap. According to a VP of TD, they became very popular in the aftermarket and the mold was modified to accept a center cap. As far as I know, this was the only change made to the wheel from the original "race" verion.

I have the original "race" version and have not seen the TD center cap for the new Pro Race 1 wheel.

Thanks.

So, are you saying this mod wouldn't work for the new wheel?

I can't say since I have not seen the new wheel. It would as long as that center hole is 60mm.

I totally agree. The TD logos are just stickers--and bad ones. I lost a lot of letters just mounting the tires. The rest come of with your fingernail in literally 10 seconds! They must have used the same glue as the post-its!

yep. No stickers in any of my pics! It would actually take more work and care to keep them on.

Thanks for the pic, 6f7. Did you use a MINI center cap from a 17' S-lite. I went to order some, yesterday, and I ran into the fact that all caps are not created equal. There are diferent cap part numbers for the different wheels that MINI offers.

Which one did you use?

Thanks,
JS

I used caps from extra set of 15" 7 hole wheels with the "adapter". The MINI center cap measured: outer diameter: 54mm

How many sizes are there for MINI? Does anyone know the measurements of the other caps? Can you measure the S-lite ones? Maybe there is a perfect fit after all that work.

I don't have it in front of me, but if you look at a MINI Accessorie catalog, you can see how many part numbers they list for the center caps. I know the R90, S-lite, and 15" holey are different.

Sorry, I have no idea on diameters. I don't have my car, yet, but soon.

I have a parts database at home, but I doubt it would list the size of the different caps, but I'll check, tonight.

I still think your solution is really slick, even if you did do it for nothing.
(just kidding)

See ya,
