Check out the Toyo Proxes 4. Don't know that it's the best, but it's hella good.

Assuming you have stock 17" wheels.

If you look for 205/45-17 tires All season then:

Ultra High Performance All Season-
Avon Tech M550 A/S $105 each 360 tread wear AA traction

In the same category and highly rated but in slightly larger than stock
215/45-17 are
Bridgestone Potenza RE-960AS Pole Position for $140 each
400 treadwear AA traction excellent in dry AND wet.
Or
Continental ContiExtreme Contact for $86 each
400 treadwear AA traction
See tests Continental vs Bridgestone RE960
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...ay.jsp?ttid=72

For MINI with stock suspension the 215/45-17 are fine. A bit wider and heavier than stock. The RE-960 is a great street tire for all seasons (up to light snow). Overall a solid choice.

Did you have a budget?

I am VERY happy with the ContiExtreme Contacts. Wet weather has been great and dry traction is very very good. Some day I guess I will have to try super sticky summer tires because so far these hold the road very nicely. I guess I am just not pushing hard enough .

The reason I chose these is because they are supposedly better in snow than other all seasons... It has not snowed yet since I have bought them though.

Love the Toyo Proxes 4. Not too expensive, relatively quiet, and seem to wear well.

Pirelli PZero Nero M+S all season tyres are great! I have a set with 12k+ miles. Ran on snow, ice, wet, dry, whatever, they do great. I really like how quiet they are, and also the nice ride you get with them. I went with 215 45 R17.

Ditto. I have had the Proxes 4 on three cars now...MINI, BMW and Audi S4.
