Jack blocks

I have seen a couple of threads on the jack point / blocks.

A few of us were talking and someone mentioned replacement metal (alum) blocks that were shorter (help for low dudes) and they mounted with a bolt or toggle bolt ???

Is this a urban myth or where can I get some ?

I've got a dumb question about this.

What's under the factory plastic blocks?

I've got a rubber pad on my jack and I'm just thinking I could remove the factory blocks and jack right there. Anyone?

I think the block sits just "outside" the seam?
I don't think there's enough width there for my floor jack - and the design of the blocks supposedly keeps the car "on" the factory jack. Others have reported using wood blocks directly under the seam with a floor jack with good results. I'm going to try this next time I jack. Last time I used the floor jack under the "hump" just in front of and to the inside of the front jack point. Some have done this with no issues, though someone said it bent in when they jacked on that spot. I just use the jack points as nice places to put the jack stands...

You can use nothing, since there's metal underneath - but, you'll muff your plastic sideskirts or the seam up.

Had a question I raised in this post.

What happens if you need/want to change skirts?

They come out rather easily when you need to pull them off... The hole underneath is actually a roval. Just loosen up the hardware until you can work the jack point around, and you can slide one ear of the toggle out and wallah! We've taken them on and off a bunch.
