Tire Recommendations???

Need your tire suggestions and feedback from experience as well...

Our MCSC has only 3200 miles on it, but we now have to replace both back tires (Dunlop SP Sport 9000 DSST run-flats) due to 2 small nails in one and a screw/bolt in the other.

What tires have you had (preferably on a Cooper S) that you like? Dislike?

We are looking at replacing them with another run-flat tire: either the Dunlops, Pirelli Eufori, Goodyear Eagle RS-A EMT, or Bridgestone Potenza RE050.

Other suggestions welcomed, too.

Thanks for your help.

I've been pretty happy with my Pirelli runflats that came on the car. I'm at 25,000 and never had a problem. I've been rotating them every 5,000 and the ones on the back are now almost bald in the center. I just ordered a set of 205/45R17 Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 that I will be installing next week. I hate runflats and have been waiting for mine to wear out so I could buy some non-runflat Michelins. I purchased a Mini Spare Tire and a carry back for it last year and I'll just stick it in the back when going on trips. As far as cost goes from what I've seen the Pirelli runflats are quite a bit cheaper the the Dunlops.

I like the Dunlops much more than the Goodyears that were on my Cooper. Even when it gets cold they hold as good as the Goodyears but when it gets warm or in the rain, the Dunlops are much better.

Which Tire ???

Hello Im just trying to figure out what options are out there for my Mini Cooper S 03. I have been looking at the Continental Contipro Contact run flat tires. I was wondering if I can put on a non run flat tire with the tire pressure system though? Im looking for a tire with good traction year round and in snow. Any advice or personal experience wouls be appreciated. Also for better ride comfort could i go with a 215 45 r 17 size tire. Just wondering???

The Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2's are awesome. I've got 30,000 miles and they are ready for replacement. The only problem is I'm currently on a waiting list with the Tire Rack for another set. They will hopefully be here before April. They are quite, handle very well, are also very good in the wet. I highly recommend them to anyone with a Cooper. Read the reviews of them on www.tirerack.com. They are rated highly by many. Plus the ride much better than the runflats did.
By the way I've been happy with the spare I got as well. I got a bag for it from the bag lady website and it fits perfectly around the spare. I either keep it in the boot or behind the passenger front seat.

There is no issue with the tire pressure system also.

Not diss'ing u but...

You jumped on an old thread here

"what tire is best?" is very subjective so read the reports for what's a + and - vs "this is the best tire ever"

second..... know that your year, the flat sensor is tied to the ABS...there is no sensor in the wheel or the tire or the valve so it doesn't matter what tire you run (no, you don't have to use run flats).... another point discussed alot. (you may want to learn how to reset or retrain it tho) Asking a question that's been discussed to death b4 does not lead to enthusiastic replys except fm old retire farts like me with too much time on their hands

So welcome...but

Ditto on the Michelins- I've got them as well on some Team Dynamics Pro Racing 1 wheels, very light setup overall. Sure wish I could get a small spare to carry- don't want a full sized one- but a small one won't clear the JCW brakes.

Can you post the bag lady website? I would love to have a bag for my spare as well.

I am running 215 45 17 on my 07 with no problem. I think the 03 will run it as well, but I am not positive.

Thanks. Just ordered a green one. Been carrying it in a trash bag until I could find a suitable container.
