15" Tire ? ......

Hey guys...

I just got a set of these....

The size is 15x7 and I want to run 225/50/15 on them. Tire rack has some Kumho ECSTA AST (High Performance All-Season) for like $55 a pop. I have a MCS that has H-Sport Springs and Koni Yellows. Should I stick with these tires or go with something like 205/50?????

I am running 215/45/17 right now. I had to trim my wheel well, and I still get a little rubbing when I hit big bumps and pot holes. I saw that the 225/50/15 has a smaller overall diameter by like .8", but the tire is wider by .39". You think I will have any rubbing problems with the 225/50/15?

What is the offset of the two wheels? The 15's look nice.

They'll fit fine...

check out this thread by Blalor about his wheels (which are the same size/offset as yours)

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t=55013&page=4

He says that 225/50 with et40 wheel fits fine... very tight, but it does fit.

Hope this helps.

I agree, with the +40 offset, as long as it's not real low, but you've already trimed the fenders so I'd be real surprised if you had a problem.

I regularly run 225/50R15's on +40ET's... and I've got H&R springs. No rubbing, even under autocross conditions!

Sweet...at $50 or so a tire you can't go wrong with these all-season tires...

Pictures attached in the link below for reference. They show the car on 225/50-15 Yokohama A048s. I used a 5mm spacer up front to keep them front dragging on the dampers (PSS9s, diameter of the damper may or may not be the same). They did go on and work without the spacer, but just barely kissed the damper body. They cleared everywhere else up front. In the rear, I had a tiny bit of rubbing on the inner edge of the plastic fender trim and nothing else.

Wheels are Kosei 15x7, ET38.

I just mounted 225/50/15 G-Force Sports on my +40 Rewinds (stock S suspension) & have slight rubbing in the back. Gonna take a heatgun to the liners & all should be good.
