is this too much of a low profile tire? if anyone is running this size please share your opinions about ride noise, comfort, etc and which tire you are running. i don't plan on doing any track time just like the look and need a good all around street tire. thanks everyone

I don't know what tire you're thinking of running but I don't think the 205/40 will have the load rating needed by our MINI's (might work okay as an autocross tire but maybe not so well on the street)
Trending Topics
205/40/17 Toyo RA1s for the track. The load rating is a hair under stock for 16" run flats for example, but this is a light car. I was told by accomplished racers not to worry. I've already had one track day one these and I drove about 300 miles on them before I went to the track.
The gearing advantage is somewhat noticable midrange to about 125mph.
I'm not sure I would use this size as a daily driver...my concern is for rim protection. But the RA1s on the street were quite nice; grippy, edgy, and not really any less comfortable than the 205/45s, dunno why.
Onasled has lots of miles on this size at the track.
Weight and tire circumference made the choice very clear for me.

215/40/17 here, I run about 4 PSI under cold, they warm up to the max cold setting quickly but 44 psi cold was worse than runflats for ride quality, but all has been much quieter since the switch. These are Goodyear Egale HPs

Old set of tires toyo proxes 205/40/17 no suspension mods

Rides a little rougher and gotta be xtra careful about what you run over.
now back to 205/45/17
a little bit softer and handles just as well. Then I put H&R springs and a 22mm sway and it got rougher (in a good way). I've got dark wheels so the side wall height doesn't bother me.
