205/40/17 or 215/45/17

i am getting the general exclaim for my 17" s-lite. However, I dono what size to get. should i get 205/40/17 (CHEAPER) or 215/45/17?? Will it fit? I will be changing to a set of Team Dynamic Pro 1.2 later this summer.

Afternoon,i went with Dunlops Dirrezea's in 215-45 17s mounted on S-lites,
coming from run flats vast improvment plus i picked up 10mm of
extra width.

got for the 215/45

I made the switch a while ago.. and never looked back .. Actually I still wonder if I could fit in a wider tire for more grip in the corners..

But like any modification.. It comes down to how much you want to spend and what you really want to do with your MINI.

If your MIINI is a daily driver (mostly highway not much twisties),
then stick with the 205's.
Maybe even find a tire with tread wear warranty..

If your MINI is for challenging the traction through the turns,
then go for the 215.. Every little bit helps
Tires in this mind set is just the cost of the fun..

From experience, I'd stay away from the 205/40/17, but go with a 215/40/17. The 205/40 is a bit harsh and the load ratings are weak. The 215 is wider and a bit taller that the 40 series. You should get a little better acceleration out of a 40 series than a 45 series.
