I personally like 215/45-17. They fill up the wheel wells, afford a comfortable ride and handles terrific. My MCS is not lowered..
I have Toyo Proxes T1S's... think they are terrific and wouldn't trade them for the world.
You have a good chance of rubbing issues with 215/45-17 if you lower your car.
You should have no rubbing issues w/ 215/40-17 .... even if the car is lowered.
I've personally not yet seen 235/45-17's on a MCS yet..
Peace,
D

Most people stay away from 225s. I've only heard of a few people who have used 225s and they were on 15s, and none were road-going cars. You're request to see 235s will most likely go unanswered.
The problem is that because of production variances in the cars and in the tires, on some cars, even 215s will rub. To fit a 225, you'd need coilovers and a deep offset in the wheel of greater than 42mm. Or a wider rim and a shallow offset of less than 40.
Also, because of the width of the tire, you should use a 7.5" wheel with 225 or 235. It will give you much better tire seating on the rim.
Bottom line: forget the 235s.

215/35-18 a good example would be the Pirelli Pzero Nero Max summer tire
220 treadwear AA traction fits rims from 7 to 8.5" wide, Z speed rated, 20 pounds each and has outer tire diameter of 24.0" which is less than stock only by a little.
Cost is $163 each but it's a great tire for street use.
Test results (great wet traction!)

For less the Avon Tech M500 in the same size is a good ultra high performance summer tire. $119 each
In this tire size you can lower your MINI and not rub. Just don't overdo it.
