removing stick-on balancing weights?

Anyone have advice on the best way to do this without marking the wheel?

I guess it may be like "de-badging" but I've never done that either .

I used dental floss to take off the badges...

then some goo gone or the like to get the rest of the adhesive off. I think the same should work for the weights.....

My Method

Use a non-metalic tool to gently pry off the weight(s) or try and pry them off with your fingers. Use Goof-Off (home depot) in a small quantity and apply it to the sticky residue left on the rim. let it set for a minute or two then rub off the residue. Use soap and water and clean the spot where the weight was attached. Read the label for Goof-off prior to using it as it may not work on all surfaces.

What exactly are these? If they are what I think, I want mine off for sure!

Are they the small rectangles at the edge of the rim? The ones that collect and hold onto dirt and brake dust!

They are, but realize that the alternative are the clip on or *gasp* standard wheel weights which gouge the metal (in my experience.) Stick-ons are the lesser of three evils. Ok, four evils - I've seen enough cars driving down the road with bouncing wheels to know that a balanced tire is a happy tire.

Just for clarification

I'm removing the current stick-on weights because their position on my 16" X-Lites isn't compatible with the JCW brake kit. I will be having new weights stuck on, but more towards the back edge of the wheel so they don't foul on the brakes.

You need some kind of weights for balancing purposes and stick-on ones are probably the best compromise.
