Couple BBK questions...
Couple BBK questions...
Heya all... I'm looking around for affordable BBK's, and not seeing much.
JCW is about 1k. Everything else seems a bit more except the Willwood (which has black calipers
). I know there's Brembo & StopTech... Are there any others I should be researching?
Also, are special pads required for BBK's? Meaning if I went with a BBK, would that mean I couldn't use Hawk's or EBC's?
Thanks.

You can't beat uprated pads, rotors, fluid, and stainless lines for ~$500. You will get close to the extra brake torque that BBKs provide for a lot less money. Plus, you can run any wheel you wish using the stock calipers.
If you after the larger calipers and rotors on a budget, check out Detroit Tuned's Outlaw BBK for $900.
it depends on how much you really want to spend... GT tuning has a setup that costs 1200 british pounds!
cost is the factor then the wilwood 11.75 and the 12.16 kit works well, i have the latter,... and i LOVE it! on the street the effects are not so pronounce though as i found out...
and yes, getting a bbk means its a bit more difficult to find pads..... i wanted to fit ferodos on mine, but failed because apparently ferodo still dont make a specific pad for my car

Have you checked with Todd at TCE? He may be able to get you a red caliper. If not, you can paint them yourself. I know I've seen the TCE street sport kit on someone's MINI with red calipers. The 13" rotors would do a great job of filling up those new wheels of yours. (assuming that the spokes will clear the new BBK calipers)
I have Hawk HPS pads I think that is what they are. but I know they are hawks! and i just got the G3 caliper painting kit and painted them red! I think they look great! here is how they look. This is the 13" rotor with the FSL caliper!

For the rotors, I'm seeing you can use oversized rotors with OEM calipers... Anyone have experience with this? I find it interesting, because I could paint my calipers silver to match my stripes (or powdercoat), get black rotors, do the above mentioned brake upgrades, and get the hawk/ebc pads I want.

Todd at TCE can get you a nice wilwood set. They fit under a nice selection of wheels.
You can look into UUC brakes too.
http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/ ...Although I think they now source parts from Wilwood.
Here's the UUC kit aas I have seen it.

Or you can spend a ton and get Brembos or Stop Techs. They limit your wheel selection, so be aware of that. Great pedal feel and on the limit performance, though. In most cases, they are overkill on the street though. They do look nice however.

Wow, thats awesome. During my quest for BBK's, I pinged classic Mini, and they quoted $1000. Morristown also beats Classic w/ the aero kit pricing too.
I might have to start pinging morristown for my oem parts.
Oh. And I got my BBK installed this week, and.... ME LIKES OH SO VERY MUCHAS!!! Even the wife likes, which is definitely a bonus... Because if she approves, it's easier to move on to the next mod.
Havn't got pics yet. Will post this weekend.
