Those aren't the GP wheels. Those are the JCW R105 wheels. They come in a machined alloy finish and in black. They area already available on the U.S. market. We expect the GP to come with different wheels than the R105's.

.... so I guess they cost an arm and a leg... and the machined alloy rims look much better than the black rims in my opinion. They also look better on the car than they do in that straight on shot.

[EDIT] Holy crap, did I not get the memo?

i love those black ones, always loved the black rims for some reason. I think JCW rims needs wider tires.

This is a little bit of a stretch but I"m gonna go for it.....anybody know of any companies that make knock-offs of that design?? Seems to me like its not a one-of-a-kind design so I figured someone must have made a wheel with that same design. All I can say is "I'm in love!" Whether or not someone has copied I must say nice choice for the Works package I have been in love with the R90 look for quite some time but I think I just moved on. Anyways I hope someone can shed some more light on this....summer is coming soon and a purchase of some summer wheels and tires is in the works...plus I need to ditch those s-lites.

It's a GP test mule, but it's not in finished form (i.e. color and wheels). Those wheels are not specific to the GP, and most likely won't be on the GP in final trim.

Right! And for more info to be had on the JCW GP check here.

Also, did the reference to the anchor mean the wheels weigh as much as anchors? haha

OK, its a mule. I wasn't speaking about the wheels... slthough it does beg the question: what wheels will come on the GP? Are the 4 spokes are either too light for mule-work, or have they canned them altogether due to fugliness?

Ironic that the mule should look more together than the proto... So, does this make the glass half full (if the mule looks this good, then the real GP...)?

Yikes!

My hearty thanks to the skeptics and enthusiasts who denigrated the proposed 218 HP, the slight weight reduction of 88 pounds, and the goofy bodywork. Looks like Mini listened.

Now I'm really glad I am #1 on my dealer's list.

Who cares if they are lead weights?

Some ppl just dont get it that NOT everyone cares about performance. Some like STOCK. Some like Bling.

To each their own.

agreed so much. I made a comment on another thread today, an average person uses less than half of the MCS' capabilities. On track days this goes up to 75-80%, so before light wheels there is a lot of factors that should be taken into consideration. See ppl here think they know everything and assume everything they know is right, I call it BS. Not everyone needs light wheels, 15" rims, it is the tase. WTF if the wheel is heavy.... Just bunch of primadonnas

$344 each isn't all that bad for an 18" factory wheel.

Light wheels

You don't have to take your car to the track to take advantage of lightweight wheels. I'm a cyclist and learned the benefits of lighweight wheels long ago. Faster acceleration, less unsprung weight, better handling. It all ads up to enhance the way a vehicle performs wether it is my bicycle or your cooper. I have lightweight wheels on all my machines, OZ's on my aprilia motorcycle, zipp 303 speed weaponry on my sweet cannodale 6 13 road bike, my own built Hugi/mavic 717 2x 15/16g alloy nipps front 3x drive 2x non drive 14/15g alloy nipps rear on my Rocky Mountain Slayer mtb, american classics on my new 29" wheel Kona Unit single speed mtb. You can have bling and performance, lightweight wheels let me accelerate my bicycle easier and faster, they keep my legs feeling fresh longer. Lightweight wheels make my cooper accelerate faster, handle better and probably save me some fuel too. I do like the 4 spoke wheels on the gp mule but would never buy them if the are heavy, my kosei k1ts weight 14lbs. Get the most performance you can from your wheels, your machine will work better.
