Smallest, lightest, widest rims that fit 13.8 Wilwood kit?
Smallest, lightest, widest rims that fit 13.8 Wilwood kit?
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone had suggestions for what the smallest, lightest, widest, (ideally cheapest too) rims that would fit over the 13.8" Wilwood BBK would be?
Thanks in advance,
Cheers!

I just got the 13" TCE/Wilwood kit and trust me, they barely fit inside 17" rims (most need spacers.) So those 13.8" rotors will need at least 18" rims, maybe 19s. Good luck. (PS why do you need such massive brakes?)
Hi Gandini,
They're great! I have both the front and rear kit, and they'll make your eyes bulge. Seriously, they can give you a strong sense of vertigo if you stop hard. So I guess the answer is that they work so well. Also, I show the car, and they look quite impressive peeking out from behind my 17" Eagle 5 spoke mags (look like a cross between Porsche Fuchs and Torque Thrust IIs). I'd heard that there was a Japaneese company that was making some 16" rims that had huge amounts of clearance for big brake kits and such, but have no idea about where I might find a set. I've been doing Gymkhanas, (and quite well at them btw), and had planned to start doing some SCCA solo events. I thought I'd look into seeing what the lightest, smallest, widest rim available was. My car is highly modded (everything but TwinCharged,..coming next), so I need plenty of rubber on the road to put it down.
Thanks for your reply,
Cheers!

Seems like this thread has veered to the right... Do you really have 13.8" Wilwoods? I thought the biggest ones sold for MINIs were the 13" kits sold by Todd at TCE. Hence my question: how could you possibly need more than the stopping power provided by the 13" TCEs?

You can make a kit of any diameter if you piece it together.
I'm guessing that 13.8 is massively overbraked. Give Todd a call, he's knowledgable (very) and helpfull (very). So the car is carrying much more moment of inertia and unsprug weight to get a "look" that fills a wheel. Sometimes more isn't better....
