I guess it's about style pretty much then? Like someone above said, it would appear that Yoko has produced 2 tires with very similar handling/performance characteristics, price point, and merely a different tread pattern... they fit different market segments, for sure - tuner vs. performance coupe/sedan. I thought it was interesting that Yoko put their market segmentation into the Spec-2's technical PDF, but didn't for the ES100.

I talked with people that run both this weekend, and both are extremely pleased with their performance. Neither could point out any obvious advantages other than that they 'liked the look' better... heh.

scobib,
Did you speak to anyone re. wet and dry handling?
I'm installing the Spec 2s Thursday. I had the ES100s
and thought they rocked in the rain.

The ES100's would seemingly have the advantage in the rain, I think... Personally, I still like the look of the Spec-2's better...

2minis: you had 215/45-17 ES100's in the past. Since the Parada2's don't come in this size, what size are you installing?

for everyone else; if you want the 215/45-17, the choice is the ES100. So really, the debate between tires comes down to the OEM 205/45-17 and the slightly shorter 215/40-17.

I've heard positive comments about both, however owners feedback seems to be more enthusiastic about the Parada2, and I've heard multiple counts of chunking with the ES100. Also a note, Tire Rack's testing yielded a quicker lap-time with their reference vehicle with the Parada2 versus the ES100. Do we have a winner? Not really, I think it still comes down to aesthetic preference and size requirements.

Cheers,
Ryan

Has anyone compared these two to the Kumho ECSTA MX? It would seem that behind the Azenis RS, the Ecsta MX is the second choice tire in the SCCA right now in STS and STX? Some people say they think it's even better than the Azenis on a hot track?
