I just looked into this tire. I compared it to a Parada Spec 2 for “S’s & G’s”. Tire Wear on the Advans in much lower at 60 compared to 300 on the prada specs. This number tell you how long the tire tread will last compared to the “test tire” 100 being as long, 200 being twice as long and 300 being three times as long. Both tires can take the G-force in wet the same the same: above .54 G’s on asphalt and .41 G’s on concrete. They also can take the heat at speeds over 115 MPH. Read all about the data in above links.

Just at looking at them you can see there will be more rubber on the road. But I have a feeling it will also make more noise. But the price has me really looking twice. For the price of two Advans I can have 4 pradas and some left over. I am sure it will be a fun tire, but it might need replacing twice a summer.

It’s also a bigger tire. That will help you out wit your high HP application. It will take a bit more effort to spine the tires helping them to hook up better. Your DIA will go up, as will your tread width. Give them a try. It’s only money.

Maybe someone that has them can give more real world info. Hope that helps.

Not really concerned about the wear. As far as the noise, I doubt it will add to my race car like NVH And the rain? You know how often Msfit sees the rain But honestly, comparing the A048 to the Parada is like comparing the Mini to a Geo Anything good enough for the Elise/Exige, is perfect for Msfit:smile:

The two tires really aren't in the same league... Prada = "tuner/looks" tire... A048 = race tire.

No personal experience though, sorry... I did go though a couple sets of A032's but they're not exactly comparable either.

The A048 is one of the best R-compound in the market, not really for street use coz' they warm up pretty fast.

I have some AO48's on my Evo, plus they're shaved so they rock!

People looking at R-compound tires because of the price should look elsewhere. The are inexpensive because they are meant to replaced to often. They are essentially race tires with a few accomodations for streetability and legality.

MSFIT and others - any feedback on this topic? I am considering the same move.

ruf4play - not sure I understand - the R componds all seem to be much pricier (well the yokos sure are anyway).

I have noticed they have a 215/45 - 17 though

I've about polished off a set of 225/50-15 A048s. What do you want to know about them?

Other tires that I've used on the MCS:
Stock all season Dulop 5000 runflats. 195/55-16
Michelin Artic Alpins - 205/50-16
Falken 215 Azenis - 215/45-16 - 6 sets
Avon M500 - 205/50-16
Avon Tech R - 225/45-15
Yokohama A048 - 225/50-15

All of the above have been used for autocrossing. Yes, even the Artic Alphins (we had one snow event in 2003).

It sounds like feedback on the advan has been positive (other than the deneros needed to play).

I was really curious whether the 225/45 would work on a 17" wheel, or if the 215/45 was the better choice. I am leaning toward 215 due to the rubbing risk. By the way, I am looking at these for road courses, and need 17" wheels because of my StopTech brakes.
