I need some Feedback from anyone that has RunFlat tires on their MINI!
I'm curious to know how many miles you've put on your RunFlats before needing replacement?
Which tires are the hardest in your opinion? Perelli's or Goodyears?
Are your tires wearing the same from front to back?

I have run flats on my 2005 MCS JCW... it's the Perelli's.
Sorry I only have alittle over 3,000 miles on them, so I can't speak to wear. Basically, they are okay. Not too bad of a ride. But I am going with regular tires when they are done. So I do peel out in them often (seriously) trying to wear them down. No such luck yet.

If you rotate the tires every couple thousand miles like you're supposed to, they'll wear evenly front to back. If you follow the "advice" in the MINI's manual, you'll burn the fronts off in a heartbeat.
The Goodyear RS-A's will typically last longer than the summer-only Pirelli Euphori@, being they're a harder all-season tire.

I'm well aware of that kind of Info, Thanks though! I'm more or less looking for some PERSONAL feedback. How many miles before you had to replace your tires? That kind of thing....
I got 25k on my Pirelli Euphorias. Rotating them about every 5000 miles I got decent, even wear. They are just hitting the wear indicators. They have a 180 treadwear rating, and 25k of my driving style (think Dragon
) is decent.

I rotated the tires at about 8000 miles because I had worn the fronts down very heavily, especially on the outside corners due to the MINI's outstanding cornering ability. After a trip to the Dragon, I realized that these runflats simply were not the high performance tires I really wanted and switched to Yokohama ES100's.
I think that these tires would not wear down nearly as fast if my mother had been driving and did not have the same need for speed that I do.
All in all, I think that the runflats are a good option for the majority of MINI owners who do not really demand the highest performance and enjoy the safety and reliability of a run flat.
Although I am a die-hard when it comes to having top notch high performance tires on my MINI, I am actually interested in picking up a set of unwanted runflats to be used for long road trips, etc.

I am at 16K in a MINI S '03. I am trying to burn them up to change to new rims and tires. I need the "excuse" to do this. This tires are very heavy and I would not recommend them to anyone. Grip is marginal. Having owned SP8000 and others. The best part is that they are throw away tires. If you get a flat, you are supposed to get a NEW tire 



. This according to Pirelli. The NTB guy told me this with a strait face. They are not supposed to be repaired and since they are distributers, they had to follow the Pirelli guideliness. I said thank you and went to Discount Tires and they fixed my flat. I have done two repairs so far and can not wait to get rid of them.

I got 34K on Dunlops. they were on since new. I think I could have waited a few more K if I waited until the wearbars were in line with the wear.

I have the Perellis, and around here (Tampa area) where the roads are mostly near perfect, they give a great ride. I feel the road, it's not jaring or harsh. In comparison our new Turbo Beetle with regular performance 17" tires does give a much smoother ride - at the expense of feel. It feels like you are floating, and much prefer road feel. Many others prefer the isolation though - including my GF.

I get 1 1/2 years from my sets of regular performance tires, about 20,000 miles on average. If I get the same from the runflats that's great with me. I damaged 2 Pirelli Eufori's in 2 days on 2 different MINIs in the same pothole, plus damaged a rim. It was not very deep, but it was a construction cut-out with that hard 90 degree angle cut. That was on the right front, about 2 1/2 months into MINI ownership. Damaged another a couple of months after that, left front, similar situation. Both times I was driving about 45 mph.
Needless to say, I hate the Pirelli's. I got some 16" V-spoke take-offs with the Dunlop run-flats for one of the MINIs, and eventually Yokohama AVS ES100's for the other.
For people in areas with anything but the smoothest roads, I'd recommend the 16" wheels if they're using run-flats.
I've never experienced the Goodyear run-flats.

I said that it WASN'T a monster pothole. I blew 3 tires in a matter of months, on potholes that should not have been blowing tires. Prior to that I had blown 1 tire due to a pothole in over 20 years of driving. Not only is it the unforgiving sidewall of the run-flat, it's also the low profile on the 17" wheels.
Not all of us have near perfectly smooth roads for our everyday driving, so please keep your sarcastic comments to yourself.

I never mentioned my roads, did I? Any pothole big enough to blow a tire and bend a rim is a monster in my book, and I bet many others. You did NOT say it wasn't a monster, but you did describe a very harsh 90 deg edge on it - that will damage MANY tires/wheels. You want to tell yourself it was the tires fault and not the drivers, go ahead...I know better from experience. Not all of us will drive over harsh 90 degree cutout potholes (twice), so please keep YOUR sarcastic comments to yourself. See, that door swings both ways.

On my 02 S, I got 24k from my 16" Dunlops with 4-5 track days thrown in. They did ride very hard though. With the slightly more road compliant suspension on my 05 S, the Dunlops aren't as bad. I will still switch to non runflats when they are gone. Right now I am running Yoko AVS 100's on my 16" ASA track wheels for summer. I'm saving the Dunlops for winter.

Hello!! Our '04 Mini Cooper came with the Goodyear Runflats which were rotated at 3-4000 mile intervals. In the year we have owned Tootles drove her 20,000 miles. Just took the runflats off with wear indicators showing on rear tires. These were replaced with Cooper SLE's 205/60 with minimal rub in fenderwell area. These tires are rated at 50,000 but don't seriously expect to get that. However do expect to exceed the runflat total with rotations. Going to a softer tire did really improve the handling not to say it was bad before. We live in the western NC mountains and straight roads are hard to locate. So must say the Mini gets stretched out quite often in a daily drive.

I had planned on going with 18inch wheels and non-runflats. My mind got changed when I kept encountering road repairs and construction that would practically spring up overnight. At night crews would grind off the top 3-4 inches of asphalt oftentimes leaving a ledge. One time I hit one of those ledges so hard that the ring surrounding my Nav system came off.
No damage to the tires, though.

I just replaced my Dunlop SP9000 runflats with Pirelli Eufori@'s.
I had almost 40k on the Dunlops, but was very bad about rotating them. So while the rears had life left the fronts were destroyed. Lots of wear on the inside shoulder is also telling me to get the alignment checked. Regardless, it was obvious I would have done better rotating them regularly.
In general I have no complaints about the Dunlops. They seem to be slightly stiffer/harsher than the Pirelli - at least as far as I can tell after only a week on the Pirelli tire.
The Pirelli's have been great so far, though they are more affected by the rain grooves common to our So Cal highways than any tire I've ever known (Caution! Not a very large sample!).
The primary reason I switched from the Dunlops to the Pirellis was price. Even with the excellent pricing at Tire Rack, a set of Dunlops was just more than I wanted to spend. I considered going to non-runflats, but like the security and didn't feel like dealing with fix-a-flat or similar.

Let me just clarify- If you have replaced your Runflat tires, How many miles did you get out of them?! We are trying to come up with a consensus as to how long your Runflat tires are lasting you.
