BBS RK or SSR Comp?

BBS RK comes from tirerack in 17 in, are 221$ each and weigh 17lbs. Can get a package with Yoko ES100s for around 1200.

SSR comps I'm interested in are 16 in, 340$ each and weigh 11lbs. Can get a package with the yokos for about 1600.

I like 16in for weight, comfort and how they look on Kenchen's MCS. But with them, I'd then have to get the H-sport lowering springs. I've always loved the BBS RK's, why are they only 221 each?

What would you all do?

SSRs or RKs

Why would you have to get the HR lowering springs with the 16 inch wheels? If it's appearance, I thought the rule of thumb was that the greater the diameter of the rim, and the smaller the sidewall of the tire, the greater the appearance of the visible "gap" between the tire/wheel combo and the fender.

When you use agressive offset wheels and tires with bold shoulders the story changes.

I agree get whatever it is that you think looks best. Its something you will see everytime you get in and out of your car, and its a big difference. So get what you think looks best

I personally like the BBS's....

Faced with the same decision, I picked the SSR's. Bottom line: they're lighter. Went w/ 17's for looks and to keep my options open for a future BBK.

OTOH, you can't go wrong with the BBS RK. They're great quality and a great look on a MINI.

My advice is to hold off on the purchase long enough to make any money differences insignificant and then get exactly what you want. Don't compromise and you'll always be glad.

They were available as an ultra agressive Miata fitment ( et 35 16x7) but have since been discontinued and are no longer available.

Bbs Rk

IF you are considering a big brake kit, the BBS RKs are a very tight fit, and will need spacers with pretty much any kit you use. They are maybe about 7mm better than the S-Lites in terms of ability to fit with a brake kit, and the S-Lites are terrible in this regard. I know because I have the RKs and the B3 big brake kit (which is awesome, BTW). Needed a 5 mm spacer to fit it, and that's the kit that has the easiest fitment of any B.B.K. I do love the looks of the RK though.

Not an issue if you stick with stock rotor size and stock caliper, but thought you might be interested in this aspect.
