I just switched from the 16in. 5 spoke star rims to my set of 16in V-spoke rims for the first time and I have noticed how firm the car rides now. I have the Goodyear run-flats on the 5 stars and Dunlop run-flats on the V-spokes.

What is the REAL recommended tire pressures on these types of tires. Specifically the Dunlops. These tires are now running at 45psi. The max is 51psi. My Goodyears didn't ride as stiff as the Dunlops do.

Any input on these Dunlop run flats would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

 

I have the 16in Dunlop Runflats on my MCS, and the sticker inside my driver's side doorjam says to keep them at 35psi.

MINI Cooper S or Cooper
195/55-16 V or H rated
part load (2 pass. only) 30 psi
full load 35 psi

For Q rated tires of same size on either car, change these to 33 psi and 38 psi

We just picked up our new 2005 MCS and the tire pressure was set at 43.5 psi. Inside the door jam it says set them to 38 psi. What gives? Do you think that the dealer messed up? I ordered the car with the mini lights 17 inch run flat tires.

Hah! Mine were 51 lbs. when I took delivery. I run 33-34 front & rear for street driving.

 

Tire pressure can change dramatically with temperature. Maybe that was it. The temp fell 50 degrees in Michigan in the last week and my alert went off on the family car.

 

Temp. can change tire pressure. For an ambient temp change of 10 degrees, tire pressure will increase or decrease 1 lb. This is for a tire that has not been run for couple hours and is not in direct sunlight. ie: If pressure at 70 degrees was 34 lbs., you will see 33 lbs. if temp drops to 60 degrees. Usually, temps are stated at 70 degrees F. so, if it is 50 and I want 34 lbs, I set tire pressure to 32 lbs.

 

You'll also loose 1 lb a month just in normal usage due to heat cycleing's affect on your pressure.
