Metal Hub-Centric Rings?

Where can I get some? My Kosei K1s came with plastic rings, and I'd imagine they wear over time with wheel changes. Am I right? Or worrying needlessly? I have to admit that I also love the look of the RED anodized hub centric rings I have seen.

Thanks!

Why would they wear over time?

They're not doing anything but sitting there. Unless you're removing and reinstalling the wheel repeatedly.

The only issue I've ever had with plastic rings is with them cracking and/or melting with extreme heat at the track. Then again, I've never cared too much about hubcentricity. Proper wheel mounting centers the wheel anyway.

Discount tire used to put hubcentric rings on ebay. I bought a set from them...in fact I'll sell you my set if you want because my SSRs came with metal rings.

If the composite rings give you no vibration then I guess it would be safe to say that things are all ok . If like me and a few others out there you got some slight vibration then a change to metal rings would be a wise move .

The link here will get you the info on the metal rings and what was discussed .

Thanks for the info. I should have done a search for "Centering Rings" instead of "hub Centric" rings.

Live and learn. I guess I'll just use the plastic rings until they fail. When they do, I now know where to get the metal ones.

You're worrying needlessly.

Kosei K1 wheels usually come with a black plastic hub centric ring and chrome centercap.

This type of ring is OK for road and autocross use but not OK for track use due to the heat that builds up in the brakes and subsequently the wheels.
The black plastic could melt or deform or lodge itself tightly to the hub and be difficult to remove once overheated.

If you use the Kosei wheels for track or even Driving school events that take all day you might want to purchase a set of metal hub centric rings of the same size that fits your wheels and your MINI hub (56.1mm).

If you bought your Kosei wheels from tirerack.com they do offer the metal rings on request. But they have the rings only for the wheels they sell.

I have Kosei K1 TS rims for track and autocross and use metal rings if I think that heat will be a factor. The plastic rings that came with the wheels I never use but if the wheels ever become a street wheel then I would use them. I have an alternate set of durable solid plastic rings that I use for autocross.

In your case with the plastic rings you have that came with the Kosei wheels, I'd say that for street use you are fine and don't have to worry that they will wear with time other than if you have an accident and run it over with your MINI or hit it too hard with a hammer.

Minihune,

Thanks for the comment. I know plenty about metal, I just don't know much about plastic, and was leary of it. I got my K1s used, with no center caps. I've never seen them with the chrome caps on, and WOW, now I know why!
