Cleaning Chrome Wheels

Can someone recommend a product/procedure for cleaning the bloody brake dust off of my chrome wheels. It's been a very harsh winter here, and I've let that crap accumulate on there. I plan on getting some spare wheels for next winter so I don't have to deal with this again, but for now just need some suggestions. My wheels have lots of little spaces that aren't exactly easy to get into to clean them.

Is a wheel brush going to scratch the crap out of the finish? Help!

I use boar's hair wheel brush I bought from www.griotsgarage.com when I need to clean the R90s' (mesh wheels).

They do not scratch the finish.

Wheel cleaner.

Dow bathroom spray. Spray, await foaming, rinse with hose.
You never touch them.

Basically I only use what I would use on the body. If you would use it on
your bonnet, then perhaps its safe on your wheels.

Thanks for the reply. I could have made it known that I ride on the stock 16" V-Spokes, not the white ones either! (hurry up and wear out, runflats!).

I was tiring of rubbing them down with 409 degreaser sprayed on a towel, and so picked up some wheel cleaner, tempted to say it was Mcguiar's. And THEN, some NAM posts got me thinking maybe the finish isn't so indestructible as it seemed to newbie me.

Think Spring,

I've used PS21 for years without any issues at all. It's pH balanced and it contains nothing that will harm the finish (any finish). It also cleans the wheels perfectly. As long as you stay on top of them weekly it takes only one cleaning - if you don't, you may have to clean them more than once.
