New Wheels For my MCS

Ok for some of you might know that I was in an accident last week and my Excel E2's got messed up. The insurance company is covering them and I am thinking of these wheels here. Reason for picking black is the roof and mirrors are black and I have a feeling that it would look good with these wheels on it with the polished lip. Just wanted to make a thread and find out what everybody thought, so feel free to let me know.

I like the look of the black wheels but to tell you what really makes them is the polished lip> That makes the wheel scream! I just love the polished lip when I see other wheels. I have yet to see a set of wheels with that look that does not look good!

Go for it and please post pics soon!

Wheels from WheelMax and also the Exel Brand - make sure order hub rings at the same time.

Who painted your brakes red for you? Cost? I am thinking about doing this on my new MCSC when it arrives.

Most people paint their brakes on their own. Paint kits can be bought online from MINI vendors or regular auto parts stores. Cost is about $15-30 bucks.

THE BEST ADVISE YOU CAN GET...if you are going to do this project is do it shortly after you get your car. I did my after the car was two years old and I had to spend way too much time cleaning the calipers and other surfaces to prepare them to take paint well.

That said it is a terrific and fairly easy DIY project.

The kit was less than $15.00 at Auto Zone - color choices are Red, Yellow or Silver. The brake cleaner with the kit needed a bit more kick. I had to do them twice as the first time I did not get all the dirt removed and after about a week dark spots started to come through the paint. I did it during the wheel change process as the paint needs to cure 24hrs after application.

I like the potential wheels! Is there a reason you're not going back to the E2s? Just in the mood for a change?

Yeah just in the mood for a new look. Im thinking the black with polished lip might set the car off real good. Not saying the E2's didnt but im ready for something else.
