I cannot stand all this phoney performance stuff. I saw a guy who took thin metal disks and put them beteen the wheel and hub to make it look like he had disk brakes. Only problem was, no calipers!

Guess that's the difference between building for "go" and building for "show".

I disagree about painted calipers. The paint serves to protect the casting. If you look at just about any unpainted calipers, they are always blackened and grimmy. I put two coats of red caliper paint on mine and they stay clean and glossy with minimal cleaning (more than I can say for the wheels ). Not the same thing as a phoney cover serving only to pose as a BBK. A painted caliper is just that...painted and functional

Does this mean I will no longer be invited to Detroit?

Here's my painted factory calipers...came like this out of the box.

I agree. If painting calipers isn't for show, then why paint them red?

If you're gonna paint them, might as well paint them the color you want them to be Painting will help cleaning. Evreyone loves a clean car....so paint them whatever color you like

Ken, you're always welcome

I should be more specific about caliper paint. There's a huge difference between a "sloppy" (paint all over the wrong parts, too thin and uneven) and a "professional" execution (thorough masking, at least two even coats)

If you don't like red, paint them silver or black...it's still miles ahead of a dirty/pitted casting I've painted my calipers since the seventies for this reason (I used grill paint back then)...not because anyone even knew what Brembos were back then...
