Show me your flat tire preparedness

As title suggests. Preparing for delivery of my new Mini with non run flat tires. Anyone know what’s in that little black bag that comes with a new mini? Looks like a first aid kit but was wondering if there’s any first aid in there for a tire with a puncture wound.

If you have a rear tire you wil have to remove it first. You should apply sealant from the tube repair kit to the plugjust before putting it into the tire after reaming the hole. To get the plug onto the tool easier you could pry tht tangs open a bit to get the plug material onto the tool. Then apply the sealant to the plug around both sides and insert it. Wait a bit before pulling the insertion tool out to let the sealant set up slightly. Alway cut off the remains above the tires surface to avoid noise and then check for tire pressure the next day to make sure you did it right.

behind the passenger seat , in the foot well for the back seats i have a proper mini spare. its sits very tight in place with the front seat holding it secure. i dont notice it although it is right there. i bought the spare originally for long distance travel thinking to remove it when done but its still there.
i also have an emergency kit with all the goodies. actually just topped the air in my tires last weekend.

I’m glad AAA/Mini Roadside Assistance is available too but there’s a good chance I’m trying to be somewhere and won’t have the hours it would take for that solution if I’m not forced to.

Plugging the rear tires requires removal?

Don't know if my new MINI has run flats or just all season tires. No spare that's for sure.

Going on a road trip next month. Driving to CA and back to AR. Around 3800 miles. With new tires flats are rare. But still...

My plan is to take a bottle of tire slime and a portable 12V (or AC) electric air pump.

My 2018 Hellcat came with a flat tire kit: Pump and a canister of tire sealant. I had to use it to seal a rear tire with a puncture. Used the tire sealant kit as called for. Success. Well, at least success enough to drive with no problems to a dealer 4 miles away where a new set of rear tires was waiting for me. But in the 4 miles the sealed tire held pressure. I over inflated it to 40psi just in case it had a slow leak. But the tire pressure reading on the tire pressure monitor display stayed at 40psi the whole 4 miles.

I replaced the tires to be "safe". But I suspect the sealed tire would have been ok. Maybe not to run for thousands of miles but long enough to get someplace where I could get new tires.

By way of contrast my JCW front passenger side tire was flat the morning after I hit the mother of all potholes on the way home. No signs of any trouble right after the impact. 30 miles home tire held pressure. But it was flat the next morning. And the sidewall had a bulge.

Decided to test the runflats. Drove the car on the freeway for 10 miles or so -- but at less than 65mph -- and reached the dealer with no problems. Had both front tires replaced and that was that. I *hated* runflats until then. After I still hated them for how they compromised the car's road feel and handling but I loved them for their runflat-ability...

No runflats

Tire plug kit + plugs
half decent 12V air compressor

That's it.
I tried tire slime once and it didn't work + I'm sure the tire tech wanted to murder someone after they had to deal with the aftermath.

No feedback when I had my Hellcat in for new tires after using the sealant. But if the tech wants to murder anyone he should murder the person at Dodge that decided equip every car with a compressor/tire sealant setup rather than a full size spare or even a space saver spare.
