Opinions on these wheels please

I got these from another board member over the weekend and I absolutely love the style of the wheel (ro-ja) but I am not sure about the color with red paint. I plan to replace the rotors and paint the calipers in the near future, as well as detailing the hubs in black. My original plan was to have them powdercoated white but a few people in my office talked me into mounting them as is. Should I have the white powdercoating done? I mounted my good condition runflats (Pirelli Euros) on them so I might use them as is until the runflats wear out then have them painted white when I switch tires. I am just back and forth about the color with the red. What do you guys think?

By the way, these weigh just over 14 lbs each and make a huge difference in acceleration on the butt dyno.

Oh, and I need to lower the car. The ride height looks good with the stock rims, but not these!

In my opinion, those wheels would look better in white (or a standard alloy/silver). I think the current color blends too much with the black wheel arch trim, and it doesn't do much.

In white, they will work nicely with your white roof and stripes!

Just my opinion.......

I like it, as is. I think white wheels would be pretty difficult to keep clean. Maybe tinting the windows would bring the wheels out more.

AGREE! White or silver would work best!

An idea: how 'bout painting the roof to match the wheels? Stealthy!

I would just lower the ride, as in your plan.

I agree with the lowering and keep those rims. That'd be awesome.

OK, the plan is to lower the car, tint the windows, upgrade the brakes, and look for center caps. when it is time to change the tires I will re-evaluate the wheel color.

RICK,

your plan sounds perfect. I saw the same style wheels in silver alloy on a lowered red/white mini and it looked really sharp.

These are my favorite wheels. Diablo Rojo has them on his car in silver and they look awesome (as does the entire car).

Wheel caps? I just painted my hubs matt black with engine enamel and it looks great without caps. (Much sportier looking).

I agree! I got some anthracite AT wheels with my snow tires and was somewhat disappointed with the look. I much prefer the look of my silver OZ Superleggeras and can't wait for spring!

I have tinted windows on my CR/W Cooper and don't think it helps the look of the anthracite wheels.

I am having trouble finding the caps so I bought some flat black yesterday, along with some caliper paint.

long term effect of no caps... hard to remove hubs. But painting will protect them some, but will also make hub removal (bearings) harder. FWIW

I think you plans will make the car look good.

They don't look good on the car. The MINI is rounded, while the wheels are comprised of jagged lines. However, if you're into performance, at 14lbs who cares how they look?
