Off Road Tires for Countryman all4
Off Road Tires for Countryman all4
Can anyone recommend an off road or simi-offroad tire that will fit a stock countryman All4. I'm looking for something like the BFG TAs or MTAs. Really just want them for the snow amd the looks for the winter. There has to be something out there....
You should call tirerack and tell them what you are going to use the All4 for.
In general mud tires are for warm weather and mud, all terrain tires are good for non paved roads in warm weather, Snow requires rubber compounds designed for cold temps but would be noisy and wear fast if used for true all year or all terrain use.
Some common tire sizes for the All4-
225/55-17
225/50-18
225/45-19

Someone has BFG All-Terrain T/A KO2 on their F60 in 225/65/17. They did say they had to modify the fender liner so it didn't rub. You could also put on the M7 lift and not have to worry about it as that's one of the recommended sizes.
Here’s 225/55 on 17x8 (BMW E46) wheels. Fitment couldn’t be any more perfect.

Stick with all terrain if you go this route. Mud terrains are good in very deep snow, but are lousy in the lighter amounts and slushy conditions. I had both on my Jeep Wrangler years ago and much preferred the ATs for daily driving. MTs also tend to be much louder than ATs. I'm currently running a set of Westlake ATs (very similar to the Hankook Dynapro) on my 1994 Grand Cherokee. They have proven to be a great daily tire and have done well in the snow. But in all honesty, just buy some proper winter tires I'd you really want to go in the snow.
Here's an option. Much lighter than the BFG tires.
