What offset can a mini cooper s fit?

I am looking at a set of 16x8 wheels which have offset of +35, +42, +49
and a set of 17x7.5 wheels which have offset of +33, +43

so here is what i am looking for, the deepest lip. i want it to look good with a deep feel. which one should i get, and can anyone tell me the difference of the offsets? thanx

tl915,

For an MCS with stock suspension
16x8 wheels with +42mm and +49mm offsets will fit (+37 to +50mm is OK)
17x7.5 wheels +43mm offset will fit

For MCS with lowered suspension
16x8 with +42 and +49mm offset will fit (+42 to +50mm is OK)
17x7.5 with +43mm offset will fit

These are general ranges but your exact suspension may vary a small amount with upgrades and with the load in the MINI, the squareness of the shoulder of the tires, and the outer diameter size of the tires.

as some people know and have seen my car i am running a 17x8 et35 in front on a 205/40/17 and in the rear i have 17x9 in a 215/40/17, believe me a 16x8 with the et of 35 will fit just fine. i have about a inch of clearence on inner rear subframe and about a inch of clearance between my front strut and my wheel. so you should be fine. good luck

IM if you need anything

How About for 15"?

I'm going to call around to some dealers for some used rims. What should I say to spec 'em for offset? And, anything else (thinking of the lug holes, etc).

I have a stock MCS w/ no alterations.

thx.

Its hard to say a specific offset works, because wheel design influences the fit. Most 7's from 40-45 fit really well. Some for 37-40 can fit with light mods.

I just got a set of 16x8, +42, ce28n's. The wheel, by it self, clears the front strut by 2mm. I took a measurement in the rear but don't remember the exact number but it was in the 4-6mm range. My car is lowered, so getting a tire to fit without rubbing the fender in the rear or the strut in the front may be difficult and may require a spacer in front but I bought these mostly for autocrossing so I can go to odd size tires if needed and think the 215/45/16 Falken Azenis, I have on my other car, will fit anyway.

This sounds like the wheel the original poster was asking about, judgeing by the offsets, but I should mention that these wheels are forged aluminum and are probably thinner in the critical area of front strut clearance than any cast aluminum wheel would be. My 15x7.5, +43, SSR's only clear the rear trailing arm by 1 mm and they flex that much under load in an autocross so I use a 1/16" spacer on the rear.

Wheels with less offset in the same design, ie +35, would give you a deeper lip but would require a smaller diameter tire or a much stiffer supension or both not to rub in the rear.

They are not on the car yet and I don't have a digital camera anyway but there are pictures of ce28n's on this forum and mini2.com somewhere. The dealer neglected to send me any hub centering rings.
