What do wheels weigh?

I have read elsewhere that S-Lites weigh 25.1 pounds: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=41956

I'm considering replacing my S-Lites with the JCW 18" wheels, and wonder if anyone knows what the JCW's weigh?

according to mini2, the r95 spider spoke weighs 23.5 lb, or about 10 kilos

I know there is a thread on this somewhere.. do a search. I can't remember the numbers, but I seem to recall people bemoaning the high weight of the JCW 18" wheels. For your sake, I hope I am wrong.

The only info I've been able to find is an obscure reference that stated that a 'reliable source' said the JCW wheels weighed 2/3 the weight of an S-Lite wheel. I guess that's possible, but I'd like something more definitive.

JCW 18"s with Dunlop 205/40-18 runflats weigh in at about 48 pounds a corner. S-lites with Pirelli Euforia's are about 45 pounds a corner, and S-lites with Goodyear RS-A's are 50 pounds a corner, typically.

Ryephile, thank you for pitching in. I used your info, and looked at the sticky above for tire weights, and things don't add up. The Pirelli and Goodyear tires are only listed in the 205 45 17 section, so assuming that is the correct size, their respective weights are 8 pounds apart. And of course (my usual luck), the Dunlops are not listed. Any ideas?

From the MINI2 FAQ:

R95 spider-spoke (aka JCW alloy) ET52 23.5lb (10.7kg)

205/40-18 Dunlop SP Sport 01 DSST 24.0lb (10.9kg)

Thank you, MINIAC.

P.S. And thanks to Kyriian, as I did not realize the JCW was also known as the R95.

Worst move you could make unless you are solely into bling. Think 16" and as light as you can afford.

*I've found some the tire weights in Alex's listings are not correct.

*16" vs 17" vs 18" decision is solely up to the MINIac and their application/needs. BlueMCS does lots of racing, and with stock brake sizes, without much care for "car show bling", so 16's are best for his application.

Wow! I took off the S-lites with dunlops and they must weigh at least that. Heavy!

Alex does not weigh tires, he used manufacture's suppied weight. Alex does weigh wheels inhouse though.

Wow, talk about a data base. Even if the info is only 90% accurate the numbers are huge. Somebody has way too much time on their hands!
