I think the +37 offset will fit, might not even rub on stock springs, but will have a little visual 'poke'. 205 tires would give more margin. Maybe investigate whether its safe to shave the back pads. A company like BBS should be able to give you a clear answer on this. Or these should be a great size for VW heads, maybe you can get most of your money back.

+35 came up in this thread:

15s?
Many of you are going to look at me as I'm nuts. But has anyone put 15s on an F56?

I think it would be a great on an F56 Justa, but I don't think a 15" rim will clear the calipers on an F56S.

I have 15s over 294mm brakes on my R53. It's very tight, not all 15s would clear.
I've just ordered an SE, I think they have Justa brakes, but I'd probably fix that.

Not nuts at all...
For the road and matching the tire rolling diameter from a larger wheel, the taller sidewall will give a better ride and offer better protection to the wheel from potholes.
I run 15” on my R56 on the track. They are a lot lighter weight than 17” and tires can be sized (smaller rolling dia) to give 7- 8% better gearing. All for better acceleration. Of course the down side is the size brakes that will fit them.

Post what you come up with.

Agree 15" won't fit on S brakes. I have 16" on my S, and there isn't an extra 1/2" of room.

While I do love my 16" wheels, next time I would go with 17", for sharper handling, and more tire choice. Pretty slim pickings in 16" high performance. But if you are thinking 15, go 16 and I think you'd be happy.

Are the 294mm F56 brakes bigger than the 294mm R53/R56 brakes? I have two sets of admittedly tight fit 15s for my R53.
I may yet go 16 for summers.

Just bought a 19 JCW with the big brake kit. I already have a set of Sparco Asseto Gara’s (17x7.5 ET48) on Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 205/45/17. Will these wheels clear the JCW brakes up front without spacers?

These look a lot like the Sparco Trofeo wheels I have. I needed to use a 3mm spacer to give me a comfortable clearance to the spokes. The other thing that you will need to watch out for are the tabs that stick out from the brake pads. On my wheels these interfered with the wheel weights taped onto the underside of the barrel of the wheel. The fix was to ensure that the person doing the wheel balance didn’t put weights in that area of the wheel.

You say you already have the car and you have the wheels... Why not just switch out a front wheel and try it out?

Car’s not quite ready yet. Dealership won’t release it until next week after it’s done inspection and everything. I just wanted to see if anyone would know before I had the dealer try to swap them. New JCW is on the 18 in stock JCW wheels for context.

Thanks to all that helped me settle on the 215s. They fit perfectly on my F56 JCW.

Gotcha...

That has to be agonizing to have to wait when you know the car is just sitting there.
But the car is worth the wait...

The 17” wheel will fit in the radial direction. However, if there is an issue it will be in the lateral direction between the caliper and the spokes. My guess - This will likely be easily fixed with a thin spacer and longer wheel bolts. Good luck with them. I like they way they look and I think the 17” wheels are the better option than the 18”. The 17” will have a better ride and there are more tire options, especially if you move up to a 215-45x17.

Looking forward to what you find out.

Agonizing it is for sure! I'm very much looking forward to taking delivery. It's going to be a nice step up from my S. I'll look into the spacers. Thanks!

Hopefully your wheels will fit and you can forgo the spacers.

I got 3mm spacers from Turner Motorsports, as well as a set of slightly longer wheel bolts. This provided about 5mm of clearance between the spokes and caliper. Plenty of room. Without the spacers there was about 2mm of clearance, which was a little too close for my liking.

First post! Welcome to NAM and the wonderful fun world of MINIs.

Nice wheels.

And I really like the blacked out trim. I see MINI has got around to provide black trim for under the windows to go along with the rest of the black trim.

Hey everybody, I've been running Yokohama Advan A052 225/45/17 tires on Neuspeed RSe16 (17x8.0 +45) wheels.

Looks like Yokohama is phasing out the A052s. They are unavailable anywhere. I've got a track day coming up, my current A052s are getting wiry. What's a good A052 225/45/17 replacement?

THANKS!

That's a bummer, especially since it sounds like you know how those tires perform on your car at the track. I love my Nitto NT01s, and I run the exact same size on Enkei PF01 wheels. Superb combo IMHO 😉
The Nittos are very predictable, and quite durable given their tread wear rating. Not too pricy either for tires in this category. Good luck with whatever you decide to run with 👍

I am running the Falken 660 in a 215-45x17 on both my F56 JCW, 7.5” wide wheels, and my R56S, 7” wide wheels. Really like them. Like them better than the RE71Rs.

Thanks for the info, @Eddie07S . My wheels are 8.0" +45. Wondering if I can run those same Falkens in a 225/14/17.

Not sure what a “225/14/17” tire is?

Jokes aside-

I believe this guy (link) has the same wheels as you and used to run the Yokos. He has the 225 Falkens fitting. I know he has a bit of rubbing on the inside of the rear wheel well arch. Then again, I have that with my 215s.
