So, what's the latest gen run flat available out there?

A little while back it was "a third gen" run flat that seemed to be the latest claim to being the run flats that start not sucking... and recently the new upcoming MINI, I heard those that have driven it say that the "latest generation of run flats" as a big positive thing...

So, who wants to tell me what is *the* latest in run flat choices out there? I regret that tire rack doesn't have an easy interface to say "show me the latest run flat".

I've done that (in the past, response time was also a bit slow), but I want the community to benefit...

Call Alex & report back. I haven't used a runflat that did not suck. Have not tried the lasted & I likely will not. Cost along is enough to pass on them.

I have driven the Yokohama and the Bridgestone. RE960 AS Pole Position is hands down my top pick.

doh, I totally forgot to specify that I meant for summer! Not many options it seems. Oh well, I just get hopeful as I hear about new model year cars (like the new mini) and now they come with "much better run flats than ever before".. I kinda appreciate the idea of the piece of mind... that said, right now I'm running winter non-run-flats so I do manage just fine...

Hopefully we will see a 3rd generation summer tire soon. Currently the 960as is the only one.

Friends don't let friends suffer with run-flats....

Get an emergency goo kit and/or Dynaplug if you want a piece of mind - your quickly and easily repaired will last you longer than 50 miles it will take RFT to disintegrate.
RFTs are useless in the middle of a road trip. The above combo will get you to your destination with greater probability than any RFT.
