Where to buy TPMS sensors?

I'm looking to update my old (2003) MCS wheels with TPMS sensors to fit my 2012 S Coupe, so I can use them as winter wheels without having to look at the flat tire light for the next 5 months.

Do you guys have any recommendations on where to buy them?

the dealer said $425 for the parts plus $160 labor.

Town Fair Tire actually said $541(!!!) for the sensors, plus valve stems, plus install.

Local shop said they'll install for $130.

Outmotoring.com has this set for $260 http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...nitor_set.html

And finally I found these- Only $165, which seems too good to be true. Does this company seem legit? I can't tell if they're OEM parts or not (or if it matters...)

Thanks!!!

Have not heard of that company.

I think tirerack does sell them as well. Try Alex at the tirerack 800 number extension 294. Leave a message and he should get back to you shortly.

My price from Tire Rack for a set of four installed on the wheels I bought from them was $212 including the sensors, valves, and optional black valve sleeves/caps. I'm not sure what their price would be if ordering by themselves, but I don't think more than that.

BTW, there is another thread asking if Alex is gone from Tire Rack. The OP sent him an email some time back and I sent him one about two weeks ago. Neither have been answered.

Try this or tirerack.com

http://www.TPMSdirect.com/Mini_TPMS_Sensors_s/41.htm
For 2012 MINI about $67 each

Tirerack TPMS info:
Your vehicle is equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that requires a sensor to be installed in the tire and wheel assembly for proper operation.

NHTSA's interpretation of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act prohibits service providers from installing aftermarket tires and wheels on your vehicle without working TPMS sensors.

In some states, vehicle inspection regulations require operating TPMS on every vehicle that came with TPMS as Original Equipment. Check with local law enforcement officials to confirm restrictions in your area or check our latest listing here.

The Original Equipment sensors from your Original Equipment wheels may be compatible with the new wheels you selected. Please consult the "Important Notes" link found online for more information or call Tire Rack for assistance.

An inexpensive TPMS repair/rebuild kit is required when sensors are reused.

As an option you may purchase the sensors listed below. They are compatible with both your vehicle's TPMS and the wheel you have selected.

Your system includes:

433MHz Tire Pressure Sensor
$168.00 for a quantity of 4

Required Valve
$32.00 for a quantity of 4

Total Price: $200.00

I just checked around on overall prices for various TPMS and seems most times it's less than $70 each with up to $99 each for exotics.

Except for Aston Martin models from 2004 to present.

2004-2012 Aston Martin DB9 SmarTIRE TPMS Sensor
List Price: $390.00
Our Price: $280.00

And even at tirerack:
433MHz Tire Pressure Sensor
$1,000.00 for a quantity of 4

Total Price: $1,000.00

So just be glad you have a MINI.

Ok thanks everyone. I sent Alex an email. Will see if I get an answer. Does Tire Rack have physical stores? I don't think we have one nearby which is why I didn't look there. Just wonder if it matters if the sensors are OEM or not. And since I don't want to buy whole new wheels, that may be a factor (seems shops don't love to install them if you didn't buy them there)

Look on their web page. They have recommended service facilities for installation of tires, etc. that you can look up by zip code. I would imagine one of their recommended facilities would install the sensors, but I would check first. In my area, Firestone stores are on their list.

I bought the sensors from tire rack without wheels for $200. Just pick a wheel and add only the sensors that appear on the last tab. It was the best deal I could find.
