Wheel bolt size
Wheel bolt size
I have an 06 MCS. I bought a set of used 18" rims. The wheel bolts that came with them are sized M14xL25. These do not fit on my car. These rims I bought were supposed to be from another Mini. Is there a change over year? My bolts are course thread compared to these. Thanks. Brian
Late 2006 MINI's changed to 14mm lug bolts, whereas 2002-early 2006 came with 12mm lug bolts, and the thread pitches were different between the two. Just use your stock bolts on the new rims.
This.
I will have to order new bolts because my stock ones do not fit in the bolt hole recess. the shoulder on the stock ones is larger than the hole. The ones that came with the rims also have a torx head on them . They are a uni lug rim and they have a donut ring spacer for the center. Nice rims and they have real skinny gumbands for tires. Picked them up for $200.
The mid year change of the lug bolts on the 2006 has caused me problems as the torque spec is obviously higher on the larger bolts. I have the smaller bolts on my 2006 MCS and my dealer has torqued them to the higher spec damaging them.

while i was shopping for a second set of wheels for winter tires, i noticed that some wheels come with new wheel bolts to fit the recess in the wheel
if you can determine the brand of wheel, you should be able to order the M12 bolts to fit the wheels
