TPMS Question..

Are the sensore the same between 06 and 09 models? If i buy a set of winter wheels with the factory sensors already installed from a 09 for my 06... Will they work properly? Thx

Are you sure the '06 has sensors? My '04 has something built into the ABS software that looks at wheel rotation and whether it speeds up as the tire looses air. If they do, then likely the sensors from the '09 will work as they didn't change until 2011.

My 06 has no tpms sensors rather the rotational/abs system of detecting low pressure.

The TPMS Sensors in the wheel became mandatory in mid-late 2007 for all new cars. From what I looked up on tirerack. MINI started putting the Sensors in the wheels in the 2008 models and newer.

Mines a 07/07 build and doesn't have the wheel sensors. I don't consider that a early 2007. All I know is that in 2007, Mini had many revisions for the R56. Example: head rest, sport button, exhaust tips, ECU update or something like that.

REALOEM indicates TPMS are the same 433Mhz and part # from production month 3/07 thru 9/09. BREUER makes them and has a set of instructions on the web.

Yours look unusual. Many 2007 have sensors. Cut over was not one date but it was in my 2007.

Back on subject.
Rubber stem valves have no wheel sensor.
Metal stem valves have wheel sensors.

To check if you had rubber or metal. Just go to one of you wheels and check the stem valve.
If it flexes, it doesn't have wheel sensors.
If it doesn't flex or move you do have wheel sensors.
MINIs before 2007 do not have wheel sensors to my knowledge.

I've owned a 2002 MC, 2004 MCS, 2006 MCSa and a 2007 MCSa and none of them had wheel sensors.
