While parking alongside a flooded kerb, we managed to scrape one of our nice 17" alloys against it. There are now noticable scrape marks around part of the rim and we're worried about corrosion (and it doesn't look as nice). Is there any practical way to fix this, or get it fixed barring buying a replacement wheel ?

I also did the same. I have found that the little bottle of brush on touch up paint ...Dupli-Color SF FM 341 Ford Motor Co Silver Frost to be very very close in color. I am still looking for an invisible super exact match...but this is almost there.

Your best choice would be to find a shop that specializes in rim powder coating. It cost $45 per wheel. The rims will be restored as new when finished. I'm in SoCal, Olympic Coating is the place that I know that does rim powder coating. Talk to your dealer, they should be able to direct you to the right place.

I managed to do this to my right front wheel after logging an entire 600 miles on my car. It bothered me like crazy for a little while, but now I'm just glad to have the first scrape over with, and in a not very noticeable location.

Come on, admit it, corrosion isn't REALLY the concern here. This is just something that looks bad and makes you feel stupid.

I have a question regarding brake dust...man! these things shed dust like nothing I've ever seen. After lovingly cleaning my car and only 2 quick trips around town and my rims are filthy! I've got 600 miles on my MCS; does this get better with age? or am I going to have to clean my rims every other day? :???:

It gets a bit better, but it does remain a problem... I've heard new brake pads can clear the issue up, but its expensive to go that route.

Brake Dust Monster aka Cooper S !

About the wheels... I sucked it up and bought a new rim, I couldn't handle it.

All or nothing for the Cooper S !!!
