I know there is a lot of helpful information out there about offsets and stance, but I just don't understand it as much as I need too! anyone wanna help me??
I'm pretty much set on these rims, I love them, but they are ET37. I want the exact same height as stock, but I want really want some poke outta them! would I go with the 16 or 17? also, the roads suck where I live, so I want to keep the ride a little better if I can help it. I'm sitting on stock suspension and will be until I have the $$ for coilovers.... which wont be for at least a year or so. Thanks guys!

They won't poke. Obviously 16 will be more comfortable then 17.

Nope. 16x8 et30 would be flush. Anything less will poke, there are always spacers. Honestly though poke will not look good at stock ride height anyway. A year is a long time to drive around.

 

Your wheel options are-
16x7 et37 17.2 lbs $130 each
17x7 et37 18.3 lbs $143 each

Both will work OK and roughly be about 11 mm more outward than stock wheels.

16" tire sizes favor a taller sidewall to get a stock ride height-
besides 195/55-16 you can also use 205/50-16 and 205/55-16 one being a little smaller while the other a little taller than stock but both can give you a smoother ride on rough roads.

17" tire sizes leave you with
205/45-17
215/45-17
Both are OK and will not rub but you have a stiffer sidewall. This can be toned down a bit by using a more comfortable tire like-
Continental ExtremeContact DWS or similar Ultra High Performance All season tire

There is no great reason to consider 16x8 wheels over the 16x7 wheels as this adds weight and sometimes cost.

When you do get coilovers if they are fully adjustable for ride height you can fine tune your suspension drop to where you want it.

For comfort the 16" wheels and tires are the safer bet. If you did go with 17" you just need to know your roads and slow down a bit over the rough areas.

 

Stance is mostly subjective. If a car looks good hard parked, it normally has a sick stance.

 

Yeah but wheels to me are a little more important than a drop since I only have the finances for one. so I'm okay with looking silly for awhile. everything is a work in progress anyway.

 

Although they absolutely suck I could still use the stock RF's on the 17's right? mine still have at least 50% tread left. and I would like to use the 16's but will they look too small? the time I've ever liked smaller wheels with a taller tire is when they poke haha.
