I know everyone talks about big wheels or the big breaks, but have you considered the original 13" wheels? I own a 2003 MCS and decided to put them on my vehicle. YOu would not believe the response!!!!! It's incredible!

that might be cute on a regular cooper, but i would think it would be counter-productive on an S. not to mention it would just plain look 'tarded. i would like to see a picture of this!

For the MCS it is designed with 15" wheels in mind so the speedometer readings will be off due to the smaller size rim. The brakes on a MC and MCS are the same size so what ever can fit on a stock MC will techically fit on a MCS.

13" rims do not come in as wide widths that would allow use of as many low profile tires. 6.5" rim width is preferred compared to 5 or 5.5".

Certainly it would be very light and while that is good I think the tires would not be optimal. Try talking to Alex@tirerack and ask him about 13" wheels for the MINI and see what he says.

I would say that for the power of an MCS the best performance match would be a 16x6" or 16x6.5" lightweight rim with a 45 or even 40 series tire.

You beat me to it. All 5 of the classic Minis I had ran 10" wheels. I think a new MINI would look really wierd with 10" wheels.

If you can fit wheels smaller than 15" on a stock-brake-system MINI, you know something about physics that we don't.

Didn't some classic minis have wheels bigger than 10"? The 94 I looked at recently had what I thought were stock wheels and they were 12".

My classic Mini came stock with 13" rims. They would look rediculous on a new MINI though.

for god's sake show us some photos!!! or atleast make some up so we all can have a laugh. Otherwise not a chance that 13's fit a new MINI

This is really a stupid topic. Since I have 15" wheels, I know you cannot put less than a 15" wheel on the MINI and the brakes are not the problem. The lower suspension 'A' arm bolt right now is about 1/4 inch from touching my 15" rim. No way you could go smaller even if you installed smaller brakes and that would not be wise either.

My guess is that you are just poking fun at those of use with smaller wheels. Yes I drive a MINI and I have 15" wheels.... and yes, I will tell them in the locker room with my towel off.

SURE, you can get 10's on a MINI!

you just need enough negative offset and/or wheel spacers
(and looong strong bolts) to clear the brakes and suspension bits.

You can even get 165/70/10 Yoko A008's at tire rack (but I wouldn't drive them
in the rain or snow).

You'll lose 2 1/2" of ground clearance since the tires have a diameter of
only 19" , but the reduced diameter will also reduce rubbing wheel arches.
You'll need a lot of spare tires, since I'm sure we're way over the load
capacity on the fronts, and you'll need a lot of spare wheel bearings,
as they'll fail pretty quick with the wheels pushed way out.

Judging from the abominations I've seen on the road, a MINI on 10's
wouldn't be the worst thing I've seen. (but close)
