Considering new wheels and tires for my '04 CR/W MC, should it be:

Kazera KZ-S in Silver (17x7)....

Just based on style I would go for the Kazera.
But i don't know anything about the wheels as far as weight, strength, etc...so I can't give you my final answer.

I would get the kosei.

but keeping white wheels with our stock brake pads is going to be
a challenge.

hey trilhouse,
in my opinion white wheels look really good with the white top.

I'd go with the Koseis.

There are some other white wheels out there, if you want to stick with white (which I would recommend  ). Have you seen Ryephile's?

I run white Koseis as my winter shoes. LOVE them. They are easier to keep clean than the S-lites (less white painted metal to attract the dust?). Go for the whites shoes, your MINI will thank you.

White wheels with a white top -- I've got them and have no regrets. Lots of compliments and little extra effort keeping them clean (a labor of love since I usually wash my car weekly).

Even if the top wheels aren't available in white, you might consider custom powder coating. Its usually not too expensive... $80-$150 per wheel (the cost of shodding with performance tires). If you like that wheel and want it in white, thats another option available to you.

Yep, Rye's wheels are almost exactly what I'm looking for...any idaea of how much they run? Kinda on a tighter budget.

Right now, it kinda looks like it'll be the Kazeras...I can get them with a set of Yokohamas in the sub-$1000 range.

If you are going for looks, then get what you like best. It should only be your tastes that you are aiming to please.

If you are going for performance, then get the lightest wheel you can afford and the heck with looks.

I personally prefer white rims w/ white...roofs

I also prefer black rims w/black ....roofs

I prefer chrome/black chrome/silver/graphite.... rims on cars that have both the body and roof ... painted the same color.

I do not personally like gold rims.

Peace,
D

Kosei is 2 lbs lighter a wheel, my performace choice. If your not as performance minded, KZ-S simply beacuse they are unique!

I have those exact Kazeras on my MCS Silver W/Black top. They look great and I get a lot of compliments. The one thing that kind of blows are the lug nuts. They're not the ones in the picture. They come with a special bit to take them on and off. Sadly I don't know what the correct term for the lugs are but for now I'll call them the "inverted" kind. Like an innie belly button versus an outie. And they don't come with anything to cover them up. But that's just a small gripe. Good luck. I don't think you lose either way.

Koseis are awesome rims, but the one set I had in white on my '02 Miata burned me out on white rims forever. Unless you like cleaning your rims every 10 minutes, stick to silver or darker colors. They are sorta like a black painted car... sleek and sexy as hell for a few minutes after washing, then dingy and grungy like a homeless person who's fridge box got repoed a week earlier the rest of the time.

The Koseis are reasonably light and cheap. I might get some for my IBW even though they look like hell.

I would go with the lightest wheels -- the Koseis, and I think they look terrific!

Thank you all for your input; my fiancee and I have been discussing our finances, and decided that, for now, new wheels and tires take a back seat, so to speak, to the wedding we have to pay for. Maybe this time next year, with next year's tax return....

Uh oh...

I'm predicting next years tax return will be spent on redoing the nursery. Get the wheels/tires now, while you still can.

The voice of experience,

DREW
