Help! I want to get rid of my run flats
I am thinking of getting rid of my run flats but not sure how I would handle a flat with no spare. For those who have made the switch from run flats what did you do? did you get a jack? Thanks for any advice.

Not sure if the newer MINI's come with a jack set.
When I ditched the runflats I asked myself the following questions:
1. How many flats have I had over the last few years - one and it went flat in the garage.
2. Is there a compact spare available - yes, it works for my 16" wheels and standard brakes.
3. What can you do if you have 17" wheels and a big brake kit - this is where a compact compressor, slime, a jack and a tire plug kit solves the spare tire question.
Hope this helps.

I was lucky and got the "Full Boat" Jack Kit with Molly, I switched out the RF's in 1.5yrs. and have not looked back. No Flats so far, I do carry a Slime Kit as well and just recently replaced her Wheels and now have a nice place to put my Lug Bolt.

I have heard that once inside the tire, slime makes it impossible to patch. I am assuming that means conventional patch or a plug. If you take a nail in the sidewall, it's a moot point, as that'll trash the tire. Likewise when you get a tear center-tread nearly two inches long. Un-repairable. DRAT!!
When do you find out that a puncture/hole is too large to be sealed with slime-in-a-can? Been there, and had that happen. A tire that could have been patched was simply a throw-away.
In an urban area, a cell phone and an auto club card sounds like a hot ticket.
Run-flats, or not, every situation has its pluses and minuses. Insure that you can live with the ups and downs, regardless which way you go.
