Tuner Lug/Lug Nut Help!!?!?!

Hey guys, so i ordered a new set of wheels and they require a tuner lug, im trying to figure out which ones to buy since im pretty clueless with this kind of stuff. they are 16x8, 15mm. I know in 06 they changed the size of the lug nuts from 12x1.5 to 14 something. i looked at my manufactured date on my inner door and it was 01/06 so im guessing thats before the change.

if any one can elighten me in which ones to get and where, and also how long. im probally goin to run a 5mm spacer all around. thanks in advanced!

I believe you have the 14x1.25mm lug nuts.
I would suggest getting a set of TSW extended lugs from Way Motor Works.
It makes much easier to change a tire when you already have the lugs mounted to hubs. Since you planning to add spacer you will need extended length.

I want to stick to bolts. Thanks though and I read any late model 06s have the 14s. Mine was made in jan. Doesn't that make it early model?

Regarding OEM vs. "Tuner" lugs, this is the difference between what's known as "ball" and "cone" seat lugs. The shape of them is different, and getting the wrong type for your wheels can potentially cause problems.

I would bet you have 12mm lugs because Mini didn't start using 14mm 'till 7/06.

PS. My car was built on 6/06 and it has 12mm lugs.

Definitely cone seat for the sportmaxxxxx's.

OEM is ball seat - you need new lugs.

16x8 ET10 isn't going to look good on your car.

Given that the wheels in question start at ET15, I'd keep looking. These are going to poke out a bit too much past the fender / trim pieces.

I'm not 100%, but I think you want something about ET30-33 for an 8" wide wheel (from what I've been reading) in order to get a proper, and aesthetically pleasing, fitment.

However, to just answer your question - I actually can't. I know the backpad on the new wheels is thicker, but by how much? The added thickness from the backpad + the spacer = total increase in wheel hub depth. That total increase + original lug length (likely 28-30mm) = you new REQUIRED length. With disc brakes going a bit longer than necessary isn't going to ruin anything.

However I'd get back to finding wheels that will better fit your vehicle.

thank you for the info on the lugs. but however, lol the point of the rims is for them to poke past the fender/trim peices, its called having "proper stance" each person is into their own thing, thats what im into. Poke is good. and the wheels will look great, thanks for your concern though. Please Look up The Thread "roll call 8" wide wheels" youll understand.

i feel like 8 et10 is too much poke.
the wheels i ordered are 16x8 et24 and i feel like thats already pushing it. but to each there own.

the only place ive been able to find tuner bolts from is ebay.

and from what ive read

"These are the M12 x 1.5 lug bolts used on MINIs from 2002 - 7/11/2006 production."

For reference this is 16x8 et20:

If you want to poke more then that you might want to think about 9's. Anything lower then et20 on an 8" wheel and you won't get enough stretch for a good fitment.

I hope it gives you the clearance. I assume you are going with 512's? Honestly I don't think 195/50 is gonna give you the extra clearance over the 205/45 to clear the extra 15mm. I hope it all works out though.

If I can fit a 225/50 on a 12, you could easily pretty much fit any smaller tire on those smaller width rims

I forgot, you guys are running lowered coilovers (lol).
