R53 vs. R56 MCS wheel compatibility

In searching for a winter setup, I came across someone selling OEM 16" steelies with Dunlop Winter Sports that came off their R56.
Will these be a straight swap onto my R53 without spacers or rings?

Thanks in advance.

It depends on what year R53 you have? If its late 06 then yes they might work, late 06 and up MINI changed to 14MM bolt size.

Mine is an '04. I suppose that means that mine takes M12 wheel bolts.
Okay, so assuming the bolt holes on the wheel are ø2mm larger, the wheel bolts being acorn bolts, won't the taper cause them to cinch up and tighten anyway?

The change came in August of 2006 - 12 mm to 14 mm. Also the TPMS is different in the 1st gen and 2nd gen wheels.

Having installed the 16" OEM steelies meant for a 2008 R56 on my 2004 R53, I can confirm that they are a perfect fit. 100% hubcentric and the bolt holes are also countersunk so that the lug bolts will center and torque to spec, regardless of whether they ar M12 or M14.

I am running the R112 challenge wheels on my 05' R52 and there are no problems at all.

Supposedly ALL OEM wheels have large enough holes to incorporate either lug size. Like I could slap some '04s on my 09.
Obviously it isnt really an issue the other way.

Only thing you have to worry about is the usual "Will it fit over the brakes"

So wait, the only thing that separates me and my '03 from the R111 Black Star Bullets are the lug nuts (12mm vs. 14mm)?

Correction: Under the assumption iwashmycar is making, then there is nothing holding you back from mounting the R111's.

Again, according to the information in this thread, all MINI wheels have a 14mm lug hole in the face of the wheel.

You will continue to use your 12mm lugs given that those are what fit into your wheel hub (the actual deciding factor).
