enkie nt03 17x7.5 et 40 what tires to put on?

Hi guys, I have a 09 clubman S soon to be lowered by hr touring cupkit and I just bought enkie nt03 17x7.5 et 40 wheels. I am debating what tire size to put either 205/45 or 215/45. I am afraid that 215/45 might rub after it is lowered. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Well, a 205/45-R17 is the stock size. You'll be find there.

But with the 215/45-R17, you're only increasing the sidewall fractions of an inch.
Yes, you're increasing the contact patch; but the wheel isn't wide enough or the offset isn't too great that you'll rub anything.

You only lose 4mm of clearance on the inside of the wheel, and add 8mm on the outside.

215/45 is my vote!

How much are you planning on lowering it? 7.5 et40 should be fine with either 205/45 or 215/45 even if you're lowered a good deal.

I'm personally running 205/40/17 on my 17x7.5 et40's and have zero rubbing issues despite being very low.

If you're just lowering it 1.4" you should be fine with whichever tire size you choose to go with. Be sure to post pics

Only difference with 215/45 17" is that my actual speed would be faster than what is being said with the odometer. But at least 215 would have more surface grip and that fix up look than a 205. If I go 215/40 my actual speed is slower than what is said in my odometer. So 215/45 it is =) I will post picture once I lowered and put wheels =) Thanks guys!

Correct, but the difference is very small; only a ~1.5% difference.
That translates to when your speedo reads 60mph, you're actually doing 60.9mph.

Hi mini_macky kamusta? Yeah I was thinking about 215/40 also but I saw some pictures in this forum doing 215/45. I will be installing this saturday so will c by then. I read some people have 215/45 with 7.5 width and lowered no problem.

I suggest 215/40-17. I had that size on my lowered 03 MCS (17x7 et38 wheels) and they worked and looked good.

Yes mini_macky pinoy din Hi quickmni, I'm afraid if i use 215/40 17 that it will have the gap since Im only using hr touring cupkit 1.4" drop. So alex@tirerack 215/45 17 should clear up no issues on these enkie nt03? I bought these wheels off tirerack site and one of your representative called and said better just use stock 205/45 to avoid rubbing in fenders.

These would work best with 205/45 - with Et40 a 215 may rub on rear bumper brakets - easy to fix with a dremel, if you lower its less likley to rub due to negative camber.

Next time, call me or order on line an use me as your contact. We're on comission here - and if I am / the forum is helping you - you shoudl credit NAM and myself with your sale.

Alex

Hey guys thanks for all the advice. Please click my gallery and you will see the install to my mini. 215/45 17" Falken 452 I had it aligned as well after lowering H&R cup kit touring 1.4" drop. I did not know that the shocks are KONI ADJUSTABLES. My previous cupkit for my old E320 was not adjustable.
=)
