Yokohama Avid Envigor Anyone?
Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the new Yokohama Avid Envigor's. They seem to be an all around good performance tire and I was thinking about getting them. Since its new, I have found very few reviews, but so far everything I've seen point to this being an excellent tire. Found this review, I have never heard of this site, so not sure if its biased.

Anybody have any thoughts/experience.
Also, discounttiredirect.com doesnt carry them yet and I find tirerack to be overpriced usuall when you add the shipping. Anybody know of any place else?

The price was very competitive to US discount tire prices +shipping (I am in Toronto)...
These are going on my BROWNSUGAR as soon as nights get warmer...

knowing how Yokohama generally makes their all season tires, I would say that these tires are probably a good handling tire that provides a lot of confidence in many dirivng situations, but may cost a bit of dough in comparison to other brands. I would say to go for them and you wouldn't be disappointed. I rarely hear anything bad about UHPAS tires from Yokohama.

Yoko AVID ENVigors
Just installed a set of 215 45 17's on my '05 Cooper s three days ago. Replaced the Goodyear Eagle runflats. Got em for 450.00 cash installed and out the door. They are awesome looking and seem to handle quite well. Not sure I want 50 pounds of air in em though. Running 40 in front and 36 in rear. Seems a bit too little and will bump em up a couple pounds today. I like em though and will report back in a couple months after I have a chance to get em out in the twisties...

Love the ENVigor's
I put 215/45R-17 Yokohama AVID ENVigor (W)'s on my '02 MCS two weeks ago. They have a great ride, extremely quiet (hope they stay that way as they wear), seem to corner well (haven't pushed them too much yet) and are great bang for the buck. A "W" rated (168 mph) tire with a 560 UTGH wear rating for $101 is great. I went with the 215's vs the 205's to get the "W" rating vs "V" rating and to have a slightly taller tire to get my speedo closer to correct. I was ~3 mph low (per my GPS) with the 205's now only ~1 mph low. 215/45/17's don't rub at all with stock wheels and suspension.

After doing a lot of reading, I am switching out my OEM run flats with the Yokohama A/E 195/55-16's. I purchased them from TireRack and last Saturday I got a call from Alex at TireRack asking me if I was aware that I was going from run flats to non runflats. That's the kind of customer service I like, someone who is paying attention! Alex thinks that this is going to be a great tire. I run Dunlop winter tires that I purchased from them as well.

Yokahama Advan Sport
I went with the Yokohama Advan Sport (summer only) instead of the Yokohama Avid Envigor. I wanted to retain the handling and steering response that the JCW needs and was not sure if the Envigor's are up to the challenge in that department.
If you have any further thoughts on the Envigor's handling characteristics please post to this thread. I will probably be putting on a set of all season tires once the weather gets cold (December). So I have some time to make a decision on the Envigors.
By the way the Advan Sports are really impressing me. I would higly recommend them if you are looking for a performance street tire to replace the runflats.

I've been researching tires for awhile now. The Yokohama Avid Envigors were not even on my radar. Where I am, most of the tire dealers I talked to kept telling me to get the Yokohama S.Drives. Well, seeing as they cost $95 in the US and over $220 (discounted) each in Canada, I was not even going to consider Yokohama tires. So I've been looking at the Continental DWS and the General Tire Exclaim UHP.
I dropped into a tire shop near my home on my way home from work today. The Avid ENvigors were quite a bit less expensive than the S.Drives. In fact they are about the same price as the Conti DWS (approx $170CDN) Yah...we Canadians are getting ripped pretty good. But the tire guy says he is very well aware we are near the border and they will do some discounting and other things to try and even out the value proposition. So given the Conti DWS and the Yoko Avid Envigors are the comparable in price, which one should I choose. BTW, they are out of stock on both and I would have to order them in.
