Curb Rash :-(

So I was taking a tight right turn at an intersection, and a car coming up to the red light on my right decides to race to the light and quickly brake... So as i see him coming i realize i can't take the turn as wide as i was going to. So i have to cut right and my back right wheel jumps onto the curb. Lets just say i expected my bumper to be missing.... But i get out of the car and everything looks fine, i'm really happy. Until i see a pretty bad curb rash on the outside of my webspoke rims. It's about 3 inches long, so i'm not sure if that's something that i should be brought to repair....

Or is there any way i can buy just the outside of the rim individually? Would that be cheaper?

I was looking around i couldnt even find that.....

Thanks in advance, i cringe every time i see my rims now...

First day I had my car something similar happened to me, but I ahave the wheel and tire package so once they get the info to the insurance co. I'll get a free repair.
I'm not sure if you can just get the outside of these rims, but you could probably talk to your dealer and see if they have some damaged ones that they could sell you and help you out.

You should look around at a wheel repair place. We have a company that comes to our bodyshop that repairs wheels on the spot.

When I bought my OZ's (used) I had to have a couple of the wheels repaired and you can't tell.

My suggestion if you don't want to replace the wheels.

Thanks for the suggestion for wheel repair.... I was thinking it might be unrepairable, but how much do you think it would cost to repair? Its basically a 3 or 4 inch gash, not horribly deep, but still bad

If the curbing is limited to the barrel you may be able to replace just that and transplant the center piece.

Usually 75-150 bucks depending on whether they do the repair on the car or take the wheel and tig weld some aluminum in it.

Even at 200.00 bucks, you can't replace that wheel for that much...

HTH's,

make sure the wheel isn't bent

two of my R97 flame spokes were bent and slightly wobbled on the wheel balance machine.. even tho they were never curbed..

if they're straight.. u can also consider power coating ur wheels a diff color that way it can be filled in and then painted over

I have a minor curb rash on one of my stock 15" silver rims, R56. It's only cosmetic damage on about 2-3" of the outside rim lip.

Does anyone know what paint to use for touch-up? Also, is there something I can use to fill the small ridges to smooth them out before using the touch-up paint?

If anyone's made a similar repair I'd like to get some tips.

Do you know of any places that can do good wheel repair in the North East? in Upstate NY? or in CT? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I may need some TIG welding or Aluminium filling. Wife curbed a wheel that she says get it repaired.
