Hey all,

Finally got back my ROH 17s.... powder coated black.... for use as winter rims
, but I'll have to go w/ 17" due to the rim size.

Any other suggestions ....???
tires/size/profile..... etc

Peace,
D

BTW...3 of the rims came back perfect...while 1 was not so good.
I'm a bit disappointed.... but for $40 each it was a great deal.
They are now just winter rims so ..it's not as important to me.

Don't forget the Pirelli 240 or any of the Unpronouncable Finnish Brands, like Happillikkatimmungfu or some such nonsense.

The unpronouncable hakkapelitta snows are awesome tires, but they don't appear to make a size in 17 inch to fit a mini.Personally, i'll be buying a car cover and putting the cooper S in the corner of the garage and driving my old toyota pickup. No rock chips and road salt for my cooper.

I have s-lites and RF Pirelles 17"

Anybody know of any snows for that rim or should I move to a set of wheels and tires.

If I move to smaller tire, some one once said I could use my S-Lites.

Any experiences?

Hey Alex,
Thanks for the response and the tel call...
I was real busy today.
I'll try to get back to you tomorrow 10/14
I am also interested in the Blizzaks LM-22's in the same size. What ya think ???
WS-50 vs LM-22...which ones are better for NY winters?????

I've also read good things about the Nokian Hakkapeliitta's...any input ????
I don't know if they make 17" tires though?????

Peace,
D

Yes, Nokian has the Hakkapeliitta 2 in 225/55-17 or 225/45-17.
They also have the same sizes in the WR which is an All Season Snow Tire Rated. Not as good as their Winter Snows but it is what I'll be going with here in Reno where I have only occassional snow but have to deal with ice almost all winter in early mornings and late at night.
My experience has been that although there is a dealer here in town they don't carry everything and you may also have a problem getting the Hakka 2s without ordering them.
Good luck with whatever you buy!

The WS50 is easily better for snow and ice traction. Its Q rated sizdewalls and Multicell coumpoud makes for less that razor sharp handeling.

The LM-22 has given up snow and ice traction, and utilise a firmer compound, and Higher speed rating. If you can wait for the plows LM-22 can be great, and great fun when its dry and clear out!

If you like to beat the plows, and pull away from all the SUV's in the fresh powder, or ice WS-50 is a better bet.

Depends on your intentions.
Either offers snow and ice traction surpassing the best all season tire.

I have not been able to evaluate these tires, as we don't handle them, I owned hakkapelitta YEARS ago on a 2002 Racecar - nothing could make that little car fun in snow!
