Does Konig make 16" feathers in matte black??

My feathers arrived at the shop today and they had me come in to look at them before they schedule the installation. They were glossy black. From all the pictures I've seen, they look matte black. They said when they ordered them from konig, there were no choices in black. They asked me to call konig and find out if there is a matte black model available and how they could order them.

The konig website inventory database shows glossy black for 16s. They have matte black for 17s. Do they make matte black for 16s?

You are correct. The 16" are gloss, the 17" matte. I don't understand it, but that is what Konig does.

Maybe just scotchbrite them to dull them a bit? Just a thought!

Thanks Adam! I called Konig before your post and they confirmed that they only sell gloss black for 16s. Bummer.

Now I must decide if I want to keep the gloss black feathers. Does anyone have pictures of gloss black on their MINI? I suppose it will still look good and match my midnight black paint. They did look really nice in the box. But I was hoping to have the matte black so the brake dust wouldn't show as much.

Help me decide.

Well I am SURE they will look really good. Especially with the shiny black body above it.

The brake dust is going to show on the matte or shiny finish. Good luck on the decision!

I REALLY like the look and stance of your car! Switching them to black does help in that set up. Seriously, really nice looking product!

Did you guys notice how cleaner your brake calipers are since the install?

I had the challenge rims on there and the brake dust would collect very fast on the calipers.

When I swapped out for the feathers, the brake calipers are staying nice and clean.

AND it doesn't take me 45 minutes stooped over to clean the brake dust off...nice. I just wipe down and go...I loves me the flat black paint.

Agreed! But the feathers allow pretty easy access in to clean them if they do get dirty. Plus if the added air flow form the wheels helps keep them clean that is GREAT! Thanks for the info! I know it helps people!

I have to say that after a few months of ownership now, that these wheels have been great! Does wonders for the personality of the mini, the performance, and yes, the ease of cleaning. (Not to mention the black doesn't show brake dust AND the spokes are way easier to clean than those on the S-lites) My only complaint... That I don't have the extra $$ right now to buy a set of 16's to mount some all seasons on for the winter. I never want to go back to the S-lites.

The OEM brake pads put out a lot of dirt. My wheels, and the boot of my MINI used to get dirty very quickly. I switched to Carbotech 1521 Bobcat pads and now stay as clean as the rest of the car. I was really surprised.

No doubt. They are GREAT all around:
- Lighter.
- Looks nicer.
- Stays clean looking (I don't know how owners of white rims keep them clean).
- Keeps brake dust from settling on the calipers.
- Easy access to the brake calipers if you need to clean them. You can also get behind to most of the rear of the rim through the spokes.
- And the best part.... THEY ARE INEXPENSIVE!!!!!

I'm very happy with these rims.

I have 17's on my MINI, although it's an R53. I really like them, still not sure about the black though...

The black looks nice! Just carry it a bit further. Try the Joey Mod, and a few other things to bring it all together. Or go nuts and paint the feathers White!

Either way, thanks for the post and the pic!

Do you have anymore pics of your car/wheels? I really want to get black feathers on my AB MCS but need some more visual persuasion

That just looks incredible. What size/brand tires are you running? I imagine the 16's will open up a wider selection.
