225/35/18 tires~ have u tried it?

Edit:

Hello ~

Will 225/35/18 fit for 18X7.5 45 offset work? Will it rub....Have anyone tried it before? Please let me know~ Thanks!!

Hello

I got some new wheels with 45 offset. Its 18X7.5. I know the best choice is 215/40/18...but the 225 is so much cheaper...So i want to know does it ACTUALLY rub? Because i searched the forum and ppl just say it MIGHT rub....has anyone tried it before? my car is stock R56 MC....

Thank You!!

225/40-18 fits rims 7.5 to 9 " wide, 25.1" tire diameter.

Rubbing is likely but not impossible to make it work.

Be prepared to-
Do a little trimming of the rear inner wheel well plastic.
Increase rear negative camber using adjustable rear lower control arms
Not invite passengers to sit in your rear seat.

You do get a little speedo error.
When speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 61.5mph (99km/h): 2.5% faster.

225/35-18 fits rims 7.5 to 9" wide, perfect for 8" wide rim, 24.2" tire diameter and comes in Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric, Max Performance Summer tire.

225/40-18 is too tall.

225/35-18 is slightly smaller than stock tire diameter so clearance would be better. You just need a rim that is 18x7.5" or wider which is what you were going to use.

So 225/35-18 should work with stock suspension and with a mildly lowered MINI.

Correct. +45mm offset is good.

225/35-18 is OK with 18x7.5 wheel as you already stated.

225mm wide tires are no problem.

i think the 225 40 18 will be too thick and rub the fender...? But i am not sure...my final choice was 215 40 18.....even though i want to go with 225 35 18....i just want to be safe since i ordered the tires through online....
hopefully someone can help u! and have fun driving the Mini

225/40-18 is too tall to fit a MINI. The tire diameter is 25.1" and stock is about 24.3".

Using a tire that is too tall will decrease clearance in the wheel well so that the tire will rub the inner black plastic wheel arch in the back.

Also a tall tire will decrease wheel gap and look too tall for the MINI, the porportions will be out of balance. You can increase tire diameter to about 24.6 or 24.7" and make it still fit but beyond 25" is too tall.

225mm width is not usually a problem if you have enough wheel offset that is low in number to push the tire outward for clearance but with the tire being tall you won't clear the wheel arch liner.

215/35-18 fits rims 7-8.5" wide, perfect for 7.5" rim, 23.9" tire diameter.
215/40-18 fits rims 7-8.5" wide, perfect for 7.5" rim, 24.8" tire diameter.
