Does anyone have this wheel? Or does anyone have any more info on it?

It is listed as 16" X 5.5", but why would they make such a narrow 16-incher? The tire size is 175/60/16, but I can't seem to find any tires in this size. I seem to recall from another post that this rim is actually lighter than the stock 16" S wheel, the R84.

205/50/16 will mount down to 5.5 inch wide wheels, and by being such a narrow wheel, I'd venture its lighter.

I thought the R87 was a 15 x 5.5" and the R88 was 16 x 6.5".

See this MINI2 post for more info.

As for the weight of the R87, it's lighter than the R84 because the R84 is 16", not 15" like the R87. The R88 (16&quot is heavier than the R84.
Where did you see the R87 listed as a 16"?

Most likely in the MINI Motoring Accessories brochure ... the 2002 and 2003 versions both had several incorrect wheels sizes.

So the R87 is 15"? It is listed in the MINI brochure as 16". So, MINI made the same mistake twice?

Does anyone actually own these wheels?

The R87 is also listed on the MINIUSA site ("build your own&quot as 16". I just checked.

I was going to post and ask if anyone had any pictures of this wheel mounted to a MINI. I saw the option on the "build your own" portion of MINIUSA and it sparked my interest. It is listed as a 16" wheel on the web site.

My friend Katiedidmini has the R87's on her VR/B Cooper. I do believe they are actually 16" wheels. Here's a pic:

It's nice to finally see these on a real car. Thanks, Ryephile.

If you get a chance, could you please ask your friend what tires (brand and size) she got for those wheels?

They are deffinately 16 inch, because I have the sport pack on my car, and I asked way back when I first placed the order if it'd be possible to get 15 incher's with the package and the whole thing just got way too complicated so I went with the R87s. They came with the standard runflats from the dealer, and as I have not really felt a problem with them, I haven't looked into other types of tires yet.

BTW, I do love them, I think they are beautiful wheels and have always wondered why nobody else has them. They are probably the most unique part of my MINI.

I've always liked them and also wondered why no one had them. I'm glad you do. Thanks for sharing.

So the MINI2 FAQ is wrong about the wheel being 15".

Thanks, Rye and Katie, for the pictures. The is the first time I've seen these mounted to a MINI (other than adding the image to a "Build Your Own" on MINIUSA's site). I thought I might get 16" R90s on mine, but as the R87s are equally handsome (IMO), less weight, and more unique, that might be the way to go. I like the stock V-Spoke, wheels, too, so I might stick with those to save a few hundred $. I'm just thinking and typing. Thanks for the pictures,

I really liked the look of these wheels so I Emailed MINIUSA. Tonight they confirmed to me that the R87's are indeed 16" wheels that weigh 7.5Kg (16.5lb) with a 45mm offset (whatever that means!). These accessory wheels weigh a whopping 8.5lb LESS than the 17" S-Lite wheels that come with the Sport Combo#2 package. On the MCS I ordered in August I ordered ala carte everything else in the Combo #2 package so I would NOT have to have the 17" wheels on my car. Now I'm going to order these really special looking R87's instead of the standard 16" wheels. Can't wait for January when my car is scheduled to arrive !

I have corrected the FAQ at MINI2 to reflect that wheel is indeed 16" x 5.5". According to my MINI Motoring Advisor the wheel was intended as a winter wheel, which is reflected by the 175/60-16 tire size in the accessories brochure. Good luck finding any winter tire (or any tire for that matter) with a width less than 195 for a 16" wheel

As Alex pointed out, 205 is as wide as you can go with this wheel.
